I was so mesmerised by the bulbar I forgot to notice the snorkel o_O

Good idea spec it up then workout the best suspension combo that suits your needs.

Ha ha... the kids reckon it makes the Truck look "tough" now so that's a win!

Yeah, I've been following a few builds on here, as well as on other forums, and the general experience is to work out what you want loaded up onto the car, and then following that upgrade the internals to adequately carry said load.

We've got our Big Lap as our end goal, and the truck will be built with that in mind, and over a period of time between now and then.

Did you give the spotties a run last night?

I blinded the Smerglings in the daylight with them but after coming home last night the oval across the road had lights on (which lights up our joint like the MCG) so I gave it a miss. Getting home late tonight also, so might take it for a quick spot tonight before pulling in the driveway.

I must admit, I haven't measured but I didn't notice anything looking at it in the carpark. Handles very similarly, albeit with a bit more noise from the snorkel. Over the next year or so I'll add all my other "weight" (canopy, batteries, winch (maybe)) before hitting up the suspension mods.
Ive had my car for 8 months ... and i still cant get used to that snorkel sound. It sounds like a grinding bearing

I had one on the Navara and, as you say. noisy as hell when you put your foot down but not too bad if you kept the window up. :D
Probably wont fit one to the BT50 as it has a wading depth of 800 mm and that is deep enough for me.

Love the sound of mine on th BT, maybe it's because of the exhaust combo but sounds great. I find myself winding the window down just so I can hear it suck!!!! :onthego:

Tried to put the Rock Truck in the garage tonight. It was a close fit before the bar was fitted. As you can tell from the pic below, it's a very snug a fit...

I am expecting the same problem when the bull bar goes on. I'm told it will add about 175 mm to the length and I currently have about that with the tow bar goose neck still fitted. I think the goose neck will have to be removed to fit in the garage, I certainly wont be able to leave the Haymen Reese set up on the tow bar.

Given we have to angle the truck in to fit it in regardless, the tow ball isn't the "longest" point, as you can tell by photo. This took Mrs Smergs guiding me to within an inch at the front, so whether or not I get really good at this, or put in rubber/foam "bump stops" on the wall. :)

Thanks @Bluey... The research has started into the benefits of chips and the like, but engine mods will be the last of the work I do. Want to load up the truck with the weight of mods and work out how much performance it has lost. And then upgrade accordingly. Also, it will have had a few kilometres on it by then.

Steinbaurer is one type, DP Chip another... could also flash the ECU... But really, it's low on the list at the moment.

I priced one of these at the Brisbane 4x4 show last weekend and was surprised that, for the BT50, they are $2195 RRP. They had a show special of 10% off but it was still way out of my range as it would take a long time to save that in fuel economy improvements.

Is that the price of them?? If so, I ain't spending that much on it. I'll get my mates at Tekno to sort something out for me... :)

The unit had a box about 120 mm by 100 mm with a circuit board completely covered with hard epoxy, a main type connection and a separate connection for every injector (all 5 of them). The price may vary for a 4 cylinder car and other models.

OK, so a little bit of drama sorted out on the eve of our biggest road trip....

Not happy with the performance of the Prodigy P2 installed at "factory" I had it checked out at my 3000km check up. "All clear" the response from Holden... Towed down to Lang Lang... still not happy. Asked ARB to check it out when it was in there, but they didn't have time.

In prep for our trip to Robe I backed the truck up to the van on the weekend and noted a few issues. Emailed Tekonsha with the "symptoms" they advised that there was problems. A bit of running around I got the local auto elec to confirm that the wiring was "all over the show" and we'd been towing without brakes! He was too busy and couldn't look at it. Took it to local Holden who were booked solid, but at my rather firm "request" they managed to get me booked in with another local specialist. They took it in this morning and rewired it correctly, all good to go.

Rang original Holden dealer, told them the story and they've offered to reimburse me all outgoings under warranty.

To cut a long story short, trust your instincts, and follow up when you can. Always consider a second opinion. In the end Holden have come good, but I do now question attention to detail. This is a serious safety item, and should be something that has some sort of QA.

Either way, the Truck is packed and ready to roll to head across the border tomorrow... And I can do with some greater peace of mind.... :)
