Back from our trip. Almost 4500km about 10%without the van. Overall economy as 13.0. After the WDH was stolen, the new one was slightly different. Matt seemed to think it gave a smoother ride and we seemed to pick up some fuel economy on the way back. On the flat roads, the computer was reading 10-11L/100.

What is it with Parma and Victoria? It was on every menu I saw!

Andrea that impressive :thumb: Is that with the Manual BT50 and 4wd?

2012 bt50 4x4 dualcab manual and 2011 17.56-2 ob. The ute was pretty much empty and we only carried one tank of water in the van. Sat at 95-100km/hr usually in 6th.

BOD, not the bars as they were locked in the caravan boot, the car part. We were in the shops for less than 10 minutes.....

thanks

cheese is a funny one, Some types have more in them than others.
Cheese will make very violently ill, and the naturopaths have all said to avoid it because of lactose..........:noidea:
All I know, cheese makes me sick. Other dairy, small amounts once in a while ok. Too much or too often......gets messy :puke:
(and all the topping fall off the pizzas)

How funny, cheese is about the only thing our 2 year old can tolerate. Just goes to show how different we all are

hey guys

interesting reading.

i've got a 2009 holden commo wagon and recently picked up my new '2nd hand' 14 44 2 ....

i found my trip to pick it up 'adelaide - echuca' with out towing averaged 9.2L / 100km which i thought was rather good for a v6 petrol ... but the trip back with the 14 44 2 i found it worked it's way up to 18L / 100km!!! now i was pushing it closer to 100k/hr, and varied to speak up slightly from 85 thru to 105, but i was in a bit of a rush and stuck closer to 100 for the duration. probably explains the consumption!

i see people are mentioning electric brake set ups could cause a difference!!

anyway gr8 fun to read and learn new tricks / tips from you guys.

regards

Stan

I was at a Land Rover seminar on Monday night. The presenter showed us a plug-in interface which can read and reset the error codes, but also change the cars default settings - either that dealers have modified, or are changed to suit Australian, or other, markets (tyre size for km/h display, folding mirrors on/off, auto open windows, running lights on/off, and a hundred others)

The one that really got me tho, was the percentage of error in the displayed fuel economy (???????) The presenter said when he use it on his, it was set to read 8% optimistic.

So why do our screens not match what we really use - cos the car manufacturers deliberately make it that way to look good!!

Do the numbers manually.

Fill the tank, reset trip meter & drive until you need to fill again. Fill up (of course we are assuming that the bowser is accurate - trading standards?) then do the calculation.

litres divided by (km divided by 100) = l/100k

e.g. 52 litres and 415 km.

52 divided by 4.15 = 12.53 l/100km.

Unless your tank wasn't full to start with or the bowser is telling fibs then thats the numbers!

On my Currawinya via Sydney trip I recorded both with and without the van. For just short of 3800km the Nav turned in 11.86 L/100 diesel and 2.8 L/100 gas driving with and without the van.

Recording from Glen Innes to Cunamulla with the van attached the Nav did 14.3 l/100 diesel.

On the run from GI to Sydney and return without the van it did 8.78 L/100. I could not record accurate use of gas over these sections as I only fill up with gas about every 3rd diesel fill up but it would be proportional to the diesel. :target:

Thanks BoD. As simple as this calculation sounds, I did wonder how you calculated this manually.

Just got back from our first trip with the Jeep. lovin' the economy so far compared to my old tug....

Home to Bright and return (~620k's) towing our van with 5 in the car, a full Engel and other stuff and a further 170k round trip up to Falls Creek returned a figure using the in-car display of 14.1lt/100
I will always sit on or just above the speed limit, even on the Hume at 110, so I'm rapt with that.

My old Ford Territory turbo on the same trip last year used 24lt/100!!!!!
