Packed up to leave Daydream Island this morning. Arrived last Wednesday to beautiful weather, had a swim in one of the pools, grabbed my snorkel etc and went to "Lovers Cove" where water visibility was good, had a nice dinner then watched an outdoor movie. Thursday nice and sunny but wind up to 40 knots so all water sports cancelled. Another swim in the pool but the cove all chopped up so no snorkelling. Friday blowing still but raining, Saturday blowing and raining, Sunday blowing and raining but wind speed down to 22 knots. All water sports off if wind speed exceeds 20 knots so still nothing to do. Went for a snorkel in the afternoon but cove closed for a wedding.

The only time you can really snorkel in this place is at low tide which at the moment is the afternoon and there has been 4 weddings that take over the cove in the afternoon so they close it to everyone but the wedding party.

Very little in the way of other activities in bad weather, just sit in the main foyer or your room. You can play Bingo for half an hour late afternoon :cheer2: or their $2 pool table and games room.

A waste of 5 days mainly due to the weather but the place is dead boring if you can't have some water sports as they provide little else.

Just waiting for the ferry to take us back to Airlie and our van.

Big double header weekend in picture perfect weather... Firtstly headed to the MCG for the Hawks demolition with the family for the first time this year and a great day it was. Nothing better than watching your team win on a Saturday arvo at the 'G in sunshine... Melbourne at its finest.

After that, took Smergling #2 up the highway to pitstop at the folks place in Shepp before heading to Winton to support the Tekno crew. Not a great day for the team, but a brilliant day at the track with some more family and always nice to get up close and personal to the cars which an "inside man" can help out with...

Went to replace an external laundry trough in a rental property that was constructed 22 years ago and it was obvious that it was the original trough.
Great workmanship.jpg

Seems that they hung the trough from the wall and then poured the slab around it but didn't bother to ensure that they filled up the area, or were trying to save a bit of money. The exposed reinforcing mesh is almost rusted away and the area underneath it is the actual Fill Sand under the slab. Luckily the straight edges are a perfect match for the new tub. Despite us only living 5 minutes drive away at the time and frequently visiting the site, this piece of shoddy workmanship slipped by us AND the Govt Building Inspector's who handled this work back then. Just goes to show that you can't trust Builders to do the right thing always and don't count on Inspectors to be diligent either. Guess that we'll see the same next door in the other half of the Duplex later in the year.

We seem to be a magnet for this type of performance and not sure if it's just indicative of supposed trades people in general of just the ones up this way. Sadly my list of competent ones is smaller than these ones.

Good day today finally sold our 2008 16.49.1 Expanda. The first person that came and looked at it bought it. Spent 15 minutes going through with him explaining all features and how they work. He then said so how would you like me to pay and when can I pick it up. No haggling no dramas just a easy transaction!! Its the first van he has had so he was very excited!!!

Took the Harley out the other weekend to the Burrandowan Picnic Races, coldest night this year 1 degree sleeping in a flamin tent, grrrr turned 60 this year and way too old for this now. (ecxcept up the beach) Anyway apparently I drank toooooooo much red wine and apparently cut a few trees down during my so called sleep, didn'd need a forensic sientist to verify as I could hardly talk due to a soar throat in the morning.. Anyway to cut a long storey short we headed off back to the bitumen and as usual the first bike waits for the second to come off the dirt etc, I was 3rd to come off, no drama, waited for my mate, then waited some more, tried to go back but heaps af caravans leaving so no chance of going back as the dirt road is only one lane, so I thoought I would shoot off to catch the others 60K up the road. I arrived and we waited some more, we pulled over heaps of cars/caravans/bikes etc and asked is anyone had seen our mate but no one had so we decided to head home assuming he took a wrong turn. Arrived home a 1:30 with a missed call from his wife, turns out he had a flat leaving the races and told everyone that went pased to keep an eye out for the 3 of us and let us know??? Anyway took my bike jacket and boots off, went to his place where my trailer was, hooked the trailer up and off I went, picked my mate up at Kilcoy where he had a lift to and went and loaded the bike and was back home at 7:30. 521 kilometres in just over 5 hours only stopping to load the bike not a bad effort I thought.

Don't suppose any of the forum members were at Wambi (SA) this weekend for the 2 day Australian & South Australian Off Road Series? Seemed like every second person camped there had a Jayco in some form or another.

Self appointed long weekend (Friday off) hitched beast up and took off Thursday arvo, drove through a down pour just south of The Gong, typical :dizzy: arrived Berry Showground around 4pm to clear sunny skies, woke Friday to cool cloudy skies but the sun soon broke through, Saturday with some what cloudy very chilly winds caught up with a retired work mate that now lives in the area when he dropped by, in the arvo bit of a drive round checked out Treat Factory.
The winds got stronger and rocked the van on more than one occasion the temps dropped even more so the heat cycle of the A/C got its real first work out.
Fortunately Sunday morning while still chilly the winds had eased off a fair bit other wise it would have made for very interesting drive home.

Sorry no pics

Did Bellarine Big4 in a cabin.. thats two weeks in a row in cabins for us :) Prob take the van out in July now.
Nice day yesterday for Melbourne today not so much in the morning so lucky they have a Indoor heated pool. Not many vans there at all.
Found a Fresh produce farm just down the road.. great bacon and eggs for us in the morning :)
Ocean Grove hotel for a nice dinner.

Kids love the playgrounds. Played some footy seems all the dads have to stand behind the goals for some reason :) . Wondering if we book there for 3 weeks over Jan.. Pricey although we always like the place.
