Slowly catching up on outside work after a number of weeks with sciatica. A bit of garden tidy up, chaining down the van to the cyclone tie down points (possible blow in a few days) and getting very sweaty. We were in the spa recovering and wife said that there's someone in the chook pen behind the big shed. Got out and went to look and there's a big hole cut out of the chain wire fencing from the adjacent Parkland. Thankfully Chooks had gone through another fence via a hatch to Son's place next door. Looking around in Park there were 2 very young females, no more than 10, trying to hide behind a tree. Saw a backpack closer to us. Wife went out and picked it up, kids took off and we yelled at them that the Police were being called. Inside backpack were some of our eggs, a tag with a persons name and some school info plus wire cutting tools. Police did come and took everything.

It's depressing to know that these 2 kids are likely to be the next generation of serious thieves unless the Police get to them and divert them from the path they are taking. The use of the tools means that they have already had some training. The Police didn't recognise the family name as one of their known ones. Broad daylight, an open Parkland with a Unit complex on the other side and they just don't care if they were seen apparently.

That's rough @PhilD. You're right, these kids have probably been shown by adults (parents??) how to cut wire otherwise, what would kids that young want with eggs. Then again, there could have been more mischief on their minds with egg throwing. :fear:

Good on you for following through.

While at the 4X4 show on Friday we checked out the Clear View Mirror stand which was part of the TJM stand. Good special of 10% off so mirrors for the BT would have been $675. The sales guy was all enthusiastic and demonstrating on a unit they had standing there. I was not convinced that I could justify the money so we walked away but right alongside him was a Hilux with the mirrors fitted so I proceeded to show Mrs CR how they looked pulled out on a truck. I pulled the mirror out, :o right out. The whole assembly was dangling in my hands.:eek-53:
I tried to push it back together but, no way so I went back and grabbed the salesman who was so enthusiastic about the mirrors and told him what I had done. He tells me I shouldn't have done it to that one as it is electrically driven out to the extended position so he tried to put it back together. Bingo, he cracked the glass. :tape2: He said not to worry as all parts are replaceable and to just fade away and he would sort it out. We went.:bolt:

While back there on Sunday we saw him again and he remembered us and was about to tell us what happened when, looking over his shoulder, I had to interrupt him as another guy had just pulled the same mirror off and was holding it wondering what the hell to do with it. The salesman took off and so did we, laughing.:pound:

I've never been a fishing person, but I would make a good fish. Hang out the right bait and I'll bite real well, no challenge.
