Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts. It means a lot especially when people don't know me directly but I feel a common bond with you all for obvious reasons. Things have settled down now after the initial shock and my sister-in-law, having lost her mother on Sunday gained a granddaughter on Monday so that has brightened up the family no end. Life goes on.

Thanks again to everyone, now lets get this thread back on to happier weekend postings. :caked:

Good to hear you are working through it chartrock!

I haven't posted this up yet considering the circumstances but here goes....

Spent the weekend at Banjera dam at the Yalwal free camp!

No van but had an instant tent which is great for weekends away.

Spent a bit of time burning wood, fishing, kayaking etc.

Good to see your still getting away Expanda

It looked prety quiet there.

I did a quick trip upto Mt Donna Buang which is about 10-15km out of Warburton. There is a lookout tower that you can climb which you can see the High Country and the city of Melbourne from.
I only took the one pic I was to busy admiring the view. You can see the low lying cloud that we were above, but you could see the farms of the Yarra Valley below the cloud, it was awesome.

Not the best of weekends just gone, just got back after 6 odd weeks in Melbourne with the very sad new that one of my younger work mates, aged about 34 to 36, has 2 young children and has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has 3 to 6 months to live. Spent Fri & Sat trying to organise some gear to go towards items in raffles and auctions on his benefit day to raise funds for him & his family.
It totally amazes me the generosity of people and business as to items donated along with cash to help such a great young guy and his family, hopefully now he can get some treatment to help him on his way to being cured.

Got home 1:45pm Friday arvo hitched up the Panda rolled out of the driveway by 2:30pm, Arrive at 7 mile Beach Tourist Park (Gerroa)
350pm, glad we booked, the place was packed, Tents campers, vans and not to mention the Cabin dwellers, ther sure must have been a lot of kids off school Friday (yes including mine). managed to squeeze into our site said g'day to the neigbours behind as I set up.
Wasn't long before we had neighbours next to us as a couple rolled in with a fairly new looking Eagle Camper (on road).
They were interested in having a look at our Panda.

Friday night the heavans opened (nothing unusual about that on my trips). Saturday was overcast and but mostly dry with just a lazy day, Sunday with a late check out and fine weather no need to rush about so a trip to Berry Markets was in order, but not before folding the beds in.
back from market around lunch time and headed off around 2:15pm (had till 4pm).

Expecting Photos?

To bad, there isn't any

What did I do....... Well I use to race atv (quads). So I thought I'd give it another go. 3hrs later, and a bit stiff and sore ( I am 42 ). A mate blew up his motor... I did enjoy it but I'm selling the quad. While riding, u have time to think..... And I need a generator for the expanda, sooooooo, the quads got to go. A new chapter in my and my families life is about to begin. Cheers. Hope to see you on the road.

We went camping this weekend at Bendeela. Great spot and free too. Grass was nice underfoot after our last trip! Why pay a caravan park for a dirt patch full of bindiis* when you can camp for free on a perfect lawn?

We had a great time, canoeing and swimming in the river. No fires at this spot but there is drinking water and toilets if you need them.

*Our last trip was a shocker at a CP near the entrance. More bindiis than I've ever seen before or thought was possible and staff did not care. I would have written a bad report but didn't want to offend or bring down the tone of this site.
