@Moto Moto Reading on here I think the window was fixed during the 16.67 year as was the bed.

The low height of the bunk well yes I can get in there just. Two year old got a while before he complains.
We almost brought a Avan Lily the bunks where higher as the walls where higher, that is why the microwave is up above the stove not on the ground like the Jayco. Setting up the main bed every night from a couch would of gotten old soon though.

@achjimmy Yes I would of loved the setup from the 17-56 with bunk setup with table and trifold. Really the -1 sleeps 7 although seating for 4 inside. Also I noticed a few secondhand ones they removed the back wardrobe and drawers and put a fourth bunk in there :)

Dave it's interesting you looked at Avan. We did too, don't recall the models but they were both rear ensuite models. The conclusion I came to was every time I feel bad about Jayco build quality Iam going to drop in at the Avan dealer and have a look to make me feel better. Thought they were crap quality.

@achjimmy Cost wise we missed out on two for around $25k, One hardtop and one pop top. Hardtop people backed out and the pop top sold the same day. Karma. So paid a bit more the 17-58.
There was a few things I liked about the Avan more. Interior height, L shaped lounge, microwave not on the floor and bunk height.
Low clearance even raised was a concern, that fly wire screen was not going to last a trip, yes a lot of stories about parts falling off we went to look at one in a yard it had broken bits already.
Avan did not do a deal for a sale on a yard van and Jayco came through with plans so we getting one in 2 days :)

Spent my lunch time crawling over and under the -1 & -3 today. It's definitely the -3 for us but at Jayco Sydney they only have a -1OB and -3 touring. They have certainly tidied up the plumbing and wiring a bit. Had a big look under the outback to work out wiring and underneath stone protection for A trip like Cameron's corner ;). The way the j-Tec independent mounts it only has 2x 50mm holes for passing plumbing or wire through that area and that's got the drains and tank lines now. Of course you can go under but it's not as protected. I think the only thing I should need to get to the back is a reverse cam wire? Fridge and battery wire should be able to go I front of the suspension.

Access to the setec and back of fridge is going to be a bitch? The thetford fridge has much smaller cooling vents than the Dometic. I have no idea whether it is a better fridge but it's slightly bigger, laid out better with a better freezer and the bloody controls are visible without a mag light and *Try posting a bit more so your post isn't boring* magnifier so here's hoping. The dometics been around a while though.

you know Thursday will be the first time we seen a 17.58-1OB in the flesh only seen the -3OB so opposite to you :)

Was going to see if I could run the reverse camera cable on Thursday when picking up the van. Hopefully it fits through

I'll be interested to see how you go with the reversing camera....I was thinking of asking Jayco to run the wire for me, but not sure they would, so will have to do it myself!

I have the camera and cable. Will see how hard on the day, use cable ties to get it on the wheel :).
This is the pic I took of the underneath of a 17.58-3 so yes I may run it test it and then try to make it so the cable does not get stuffed.
I like to have it on the van not just for the trip home as we have not towed before, getting it in the backyard will be good. Camera has a microphone in it.

Dave be careful with the cables, they are fragile to kinks etc. I damaged the first one just getting it through. I protected it in some 20 or 25mm electric conduit and cable tied or saddled that up, that stuff is nearly bullet proof. The cameras are fantastic and are handy for generally travel besides reversing. Seeing that idiot in a micro car who sits right on your arse or having to do a u turn up a trail. Also fun when reverse parking watching the driver in the car behind don't be rude himself as you back right up to him! I take bets as to when they will honk there horn:p.

Yes thought of electric conduit. If I can hook it up for the way home I will. Then fix on the weekend I do not want to rush it, although be handy on the way home and up the hill.

Shouldn't be too hard to tie up underneath for the trip home I'd think, 30 mins max.

Jayco won't do it but the dealer will. Like most things they do though, you can probably do better and neater yourself

Seeing there multiplying :p Any of the 17.58-3 owners have the break away system on there vans? Both demos at Jayco don't have them, but the build sheets show it as standard and I thought that in NSW over 2 tonne loaded you have to have? Dave yours must still go close to being over 2t ATM, do you have a breakaway system?

Thats cool, been wondering if I needed to get one of those devices. Don't recall seeing it on the spec list.
Just checked the build sheet and it says Breaksafe System - Std. Is that it?

Had a look at the 17.58-3 again today, killing time. Noticed that you can not open the window fully when the doors locked back? Not the best photo but shows the issue.
