Hmmm just noticed from a comment on another thread, that our front tunnel boot doesn't have an external access hatch on the slide-out side... It looks like the HWS system is there instead?

That could prove to be a bit painful with getting things in and out of the boot down the track - hubby wont be pleased when he finds out...

Very pretty!!!! Got us thinking about swapping our door. Can I ask........the door doesn't interfere with the awning arm at all?

Yes it was your post actually @Smirke ! I hadn't noticed when viewing some pics of my van yesterday, but after reading your post I went straight back and saw the HWS system where the hatch should be :(

No it doesn't on ours - I posted a pic on the previous page (although not a very good one). However from my understanding the awning is pretty much the last thing to go on the van, and I imagine there would be slight variances from time to time, so I would measure yours carefully before going ahead to make sure that it will definitely fit with room to spare.

I will post a better pic of the LH door once we get it home next weekend :)

going out with a tape measure, then we will decide.
sorry about your hws. i can't see the reason behind the move other than cost cutting, plus its closer to the power sources.

Yeah just informed hubby of the situation - he is not happy... But too late now to do anything about it, and we didn't even notice the change on the plans. It's not the end of the world though - on the plus side we gain more cupboard space inside, as the HWS would no longer be underneath the pantry. As long as it's not really noisy, it should work out ok.

And thankfully we have the external hatch under the bunks, so we could store a heap of stuff in there as well. Will just have to think carefully about what we put in the 'end' of the tunnel boot, so that we are not constantly having to lift the mattress up to access it..

G'day @Flossymk1 and all,

Very cool that everyone is getting their vans. I am sitting in mine as I type this on our first trip away down on the mornington peninsula.

The draws near the bunks (2 instead of 4) are great. I can confirm that the tunnel boot at front has only one access point and the other end is occupied by the hws, battery and pump... Not ideal I can tell you. Renders external storage almost impossible. I had an access door put in under the double bunk (thank goodness) but only remove 1 draw. I wish I got rid of both now. Gives me half a chance to store though. I will definitely be putting on a storage box at the front. I am a little worried about the ball weight as empty it was 246kgs though. It towed fantastically I admit - all loaded and full of water and a lot bits and bobs. Love the slide out - we take the table out and all 4 snuggle and watch tv. Left hand door would also have been good but not the end of the world.

Folks, all I can say is that this is a cracking van!! We love it!!!

I just wish that Jayco would mention the changes instead of getting a surprise on pick up!!

Oh, the only issue we had was a scratched bench top ( they are replacing on first service) and the light above the kitchen doesn't work??

Lucky thing being away in your new van!! Wont be long till we are too though I guess :)

So re the HWS and pump etc under the bed - do you find any issues with noise?

Yeah we had no idea about the changes either. But I dug out my plan today and it did have the HWS under the bed - we just didn't click and nobody pointed out that the design had changed when we went through it with the dealer.. But storage wise I think we will be fine - we had empty cupboards in the 17, so I think I will be spoilt for choice re storage options in this one anyway :)

Very jealous, but i can tell you are enjoying it immensely. Was going to store our oz trail shade thing in the front boot. With the hws there it won't fit. Will see what happens with ours.

Enjoy your trip.

I know the feeling you have. Not long now.

You are right about storage - we have empty cupboards everywhere!!! The pump isn't too noisy. You can here it but it is only on when the the toilet is flushed or there when you are free camping and using tank water which admittibly is a luxury - noise won't worry me having fresh water. The other thing that I was happy about was the floor. I was warned that it was going to be the skinny wood look (like our Outback Hawk) but it came with the large panel wood look. :).

@Crusty181 I couldn't get a good shot of the door as there is another van parked right next to mine, however I did get a shot of how far the door latch is from the awning arm if that helps -
Thanks @Flossymk1. Your door would certainly interfer with my annex. We're looking closely at your photos. Interesting about the robe drawers, although i would prefer the full width drawers. Roof vent concerns averted also
