@skippy Yeah only camped at Red Bluff which was awesome and 20 years ago on our way to Broome my new bride and I drove from Gnaraloo to Coral Bay along the coast as we had keys to the gates. Bloody awesome clothes were optional and we had the whole coast to ourselves. We are taking the kayak this time as well hopefully dont get harrassed by the big Grey fish like I did north of Broome when pulling up a feed!! But Spangles on barra outfits are so much fun.
Haven't caught a fish for years so hopefully I can redeem myself. Will take the paramotor as well for some ariel activities like I did at Red Bluff video here.

That movie look great @Stephen Galvin but how safe are those things?
After watching your movies I am getting more anxious because we're heading up than way in January just after Chritmas and can't wait to back.
If your taking a Kayak to Warroora I guarantee you will catch a feed up there for sure. We usually catch enough for tea every night when were up there just from the beach.

@skippy High Mate pretty safe until there not :) Engine failure is not an issue as you are on a glider so long as you can land somewhere. Very agile outfits and really safe depending on how you fly. But like anything things can always go wrong. But it is flying in one of its rawest forms you feel all the air movements and and you learn to feel the air through the brake lines. But the simplicity is what is so attractive and the exposure is huge nothing to block a view only your feet :)

Where do recommend camping up there 14mile looks crowded but the bay looks calm for the Kayak. I was thinking maybe Sandy Point or Elles? Whats your thoughts as I havnt been there for 20 years and some of these spots wernt even named! If I dont catch any fish Ill hold you responsible :) Id say it gets a flogging now!

When my numbers come up that glider is number 1 on my list for sure :D

I still stay at 14 mile and just travel around via 4x4 to all of the beaches south of 14 mile. The beaches south are a lot quieter but too tight to get the van into those beaches. Camper trailer yes but I wouldn't take your van down there though.
You will make it to the station no worries but you will struggle getting the van any further down to the beach. There are two many tight corners to the beach from the station to the beach.
My advice would be to stay at the Station or 14 mile and just travel around by 4x4 to the beaches.

I know they are good hitches but that uni joint always worries me, I have seen many a tail shaft laying on the road when one let go, though the stresses are totally differn't. Think I'll stick to my Trig but then no good on a bigger rig if you need WDH.The flying is cool, nearest I've got to that is hanging out the back of a Herc on a harness.

My cruiser is at 340000kms and still going strong same uni as original. The uni on the cruiser is under way more stress and mobilising 3 ton and spinning at high rpm. This is the same uni and only goes up and down a bit I think it will be fine :)

Agree Steve, I wouldn't say no if someone gave me one thats for sure besides if you had a good look at what holds the trailer onto the prime mover on a semi, you would never get close to the back of one.

Well the toolbox saga continues as I cant seem to find the right box. Found this one which looks awesome About $700 landed in Perth http://www.toolsinabox.com.au/aluminium-toolboxes/top-boxes/top-side-3-door-2055-toolbox.html Was going to stick the bottles inside this one. Side doors wouldn't allow the geni and barbie through but I could access other things like pipes tools ect but Im not happy with how close it is to car.
Did the turn test with a tape measure but really close misses one side but not the other Also worked out that even a 1200 x 600 wide box wouldnt work !! It would wipe my car out for sure!! not sure how @dagree and others have done it maybe its the new hitch gives me a tighter turn? So I am getting quotes on a custom Job going to cost a bomb!!

Something like this

Tow bar size is probably causing the problem. Buy an Alloy box which is bigger than you need which is the right price, Supercheap etc, and just get it modded, a cut, a weld here and bingo you have the box you want and should be cheaper than some big name job.

Ok couldnt find a decent box the right size here in WA 1200x500x500 So Im going custom I cant believe the east coast prices on these boxes compared to WA!! And the Chines 2.5mm seems to be a lot thinner than the Aussie 2.5mm as the chinese boxes I think include the treads? Found boxes that were 400 wide 0r 600 wide but not 500mm. And by the time I got the extras welded on I would have only saved 100 bucks so Promote a local company and get a great product made to your specs :)

On another note the top bunk mattress is as hard as a rock and no give at all. What are your guys ones like? Im not sure wether I should ask for it to be replaced as it is a sleeping mattress but as hard as the base seat cushions or just go and spend 125 bucks on a better one from Clark rubber?

Onto spare wheel bracket now changed my mind about the great idea I had and will just go like others have done.

Slowly scraping of the mud thats like cement from the road into Fowlers Bay this stuff has just fused itself to the gal A frame. Not thick but has made the Gal go blotchy.

So Waiting now On front box to be made, Stone Stomper will be finished soon and back wheel bracket. Hopefully I dont have to spend any more big bucks for a while as funds are low need to hit the stockmarket and make some bucks :):):)

Anybody got any marine ply laying around? Need it for abase for the tool box !

@Stephen Galvin can you let me know where you get your box and rear wheel holder done? I want to do it as well but handyman skills like that are not my forte. I too read with envy at how easy boxes are to come by on the east coast. Regards

Hi @Cheyne78 Where are you located ?I am making the rear wheel holder this weekend As the company does not do steel work, only stainless and ali, its a contamination thing.

I will be making a simple setup as on this forum I can make two if you like it would only be a few bucks for the steel.

As soon as the box is made I will have pics up here it is getting done in Mandurah and there quality looked good it is costing 800 bucks with the Gas bottle holders and sniped corners. But should be stronger than some others? And with the Mc Hitch I think my turning circle is slightly higher than other hitches.Yours probably would be ok with square corners as others have wider square boxes and are fine. I get more than 90 degrees out of my cruiser and hitch and didnt want to risk taking out the corner of the car and box.

The company is called Stainless and Alloy Manufactoring PH:95818338 email: stainlessa@bigpond.com and Chris is the one to speak to. No Affiliation.

I actually got there number from someone here but cant find the post ? So whoever it was thanks :)

Table now in place thanks to others on this forum. I stuffed up a bit as the angle was to wide when the hatch folded down DUH!!!!! cut it back to 30mm all good now Will probably paint the ali white later maybe ? When folding down for a quick overnight ai will need to slide the table out a bit as that still catches on the combing.View attachment 24613

Now I'm searching for the correct box or close to it for the front and need to remove the spare and mount on the back bar. Have a slightly different idea for this so will see how it pans out. These tables are on sale at Bunnings for $37 :bounce:I have some rubber seal strips behind it to protect the van.

Also want a good way of securing the van I just have tow hitch lock on it at the moment.
I mounted my table on the rear and there seems to be more room, I think it is a slightly bigger bed, no problem with fouling on any thing. Barney.

@Cheyne78 got the materials .....weekend looks like it could be busy.
As you've got the extended Drawbar You could keep the Square corners on the box. Could even get a cheaper box and get some extensions for the gas bottle I will email you a quote i got for that option.

@Drover Hi Mate I was going to go through the middle of the RHS with a section of 63mm same as your tow hitch then make the spare bracket up to slidin on 50mm square and add some round section at the back. I would then be able to just remove the pin slide out a bit to the round section and let it roll to the side to the ground.

I dont think it was a bad idea and I think it would've worked well. And I still don't know why i didnt do it? But the 50mm square is not a real tight fit so was a little concerned there may have been some slop, which I could've fixed with some welds down the side of the square and a bit of grinding.
In the end I am just going to Copy Dagree :)

Hi Guys got a couple of pics for some experts to look at and offer some advice. On the way home we did a bit of dirt track was damp but not wet, going into Fowlers bay we also had a wet track for a few Kms this was clay like roadbase I guess was light grey? The other dirt was 200km of pristine red dirt track from norseman to Hyden. It was smoother than the hwy. Any way check the Galv out on the cross section under the front of the Van As you can see I have been cleaning up with a nylon wheel brush on my cordless as the gerni wouldnt touch it. Whats your thoughts I have never seen Gal like that so quick. And should I be worried? Any Tips? There is Mud on other parts of the frame only thin and theres no blotching?

Looks like a full on chemical reaction?? Wondering whether to hit with some etch primer and paint with stone guard?

You can see where I have been cleaning it off with a nylon wheel but there wasnt much mud anyway but it stuck like the proverbial!!

Not so much on the drivers side but this is untouched well has been hit with a gerni.
