Well the Flood Alarm went off today, as the tide started to lap at my feet, the flush button on Dunny had jammed, quick race outside water turned off then because of a mod done many years ago it was only a matter of open the door to access the fuse for the solenoid .......... perfect end to a really crappy week, mopped up the water, cupboards, toilet box, back of fridge all mopped out, doors, hatches and windows open, so looking like we got away without damage, sort the problem out when we get home but the Brides look at me got me thinking so after a cup of coffee, I dismantled the switch panel, fixed the mongrel thing and we now have a flushing toilet that won't do it again as I found the problem .................. And after a really sh*tty week, an absolute mungrel really my MoJo is back ............................................. on mains water thats why never knew till my toes were wet.............................. switch panel cover label sticky bit possibly had shrunk a bit so not allowing the push switch to return to off position ...............

After a incident where the solenoid jammed open , I fitted a isolating valve in the supply water line under the floor.
On a side note , if your toilet is a Thetford, the solenoid valves are the same as a Fischer Paycal 12v washing machine solenoid and are about $25 on ebay instead of the $80 that thetford want. When replacing it I also moved it from under the bowl and mounted it just inside the door. Why they designed it so you had to dismantle the whole bowl assembly to swap valves is a mystery.

I dismantled the level indicator and other rubbish years ago, just pulled it all out and binned it, so the solenoid is all thats left with fuse just inside the door if needed ........ I like that mod certainly easier of it fails...

Mine has a T piece just under the floor there so I could just slot a tap there but pulling the fuse by the door is just as easy..............

Bugga me, things are breaking left right and centre, Jeep fell over, Garage Door had a hissy, Security Cam dropped off line, replaced Jeep, fitted a new drive belt to door and managed to fix the power problems for the cams, now Big Mal decides the AC needs some attention ............. Went to check it out but before I started to remove the dozen screws to lift off the shroud, I got my ladders and tools sorted and discovered it has been many, many years since I tested a Capacitor, my multi meter must be at least 12 years or more old and I find it doesn't have the function, so that changes things but after getting up on the ladder to check the external fan operation I decided its time to call in a AC mechanic, some idiot surrounded the unit with solar panels so getting to the shroud will be hard enough let alone at the internals ......... my diagnosis is Capacitor as on cool the internal and external fans are fired up but no compressor kick in, on Heat it just does nothing no fans at all so this dumb truckie reckons capacitor or the compressor has totally died but money on the capcitor, whatever something cheap .........

I think it gets used more on its 3 monthly test run than while actually camping, if its just a capacitor will get it fixed but otherwise won't bother 98% of our camping is off grid and it mostly gets used in Canberra for Xmas visit's, might even remove it, 45kgs saved and replace with a roof vent affair... 2026 Big Mal is into its 15th year so resale isn't an issue ..... This IBIS Mk 3 was fitted in 2018 after a hail storm, nice unit but like all useless as a heater, the diesel works far better and often on our travels................
See what the AC Doctor discovers................
