My camera is just mounted on the spare wheel bracket. I used angle iron 50 x 50 for the support and 50 x 50 RHS for the wheel post then

just a flat metal strip to mount the camera above the wheel. Works well, and I put my number plate on the right side. :)

well, long story short..............
then they fitted the rear bar at the factory, they used a rattle gun to do up the bolts holding it in place
consequently, the tube that the Bar "slides" into was slightly crushed - and needed persuasion to come out
and some to go back in....

trust me when I say this
it will NOT slide out of its own accord........................

no damage, just was sick of hitting it "gently" with a rubber mallet and not moving

lucky I did grab the Large Knockometer, 52 lusty blows............. etc.....

Must be in the design as mine was the same, laid on my back underneath and kicked the hell out of it. Measured it up and found that the bars were 5mm narrower than the mounts on the van, so it was sprung to fit then they crushed the mounts.....I modded the design a bit more.

I tried that first @Drover when it didnt want to move, tried the rubber mallet
when that didnt want to move, tried the Copper Hammer with a block of wood
still not moving
bugger it
out with the little sledge hammer
if that didnt work, I was going to get the BIG bugger out and panel beat its sorry a$$ until it moved
it looked at the big one, then the small one, and moved.........

actually, mine was 5mm the other way @Drover had to try and lever it INwards as well as bash the buggery out of it
I had it sitting on 2 axle stands for support - balanced precariously

QC a high priority on the build it seems, I was thinking I may have to hook up the van and tie the bar to a big gum in the paddock and give it a heave. Thats how I have to remove my hitch, got sick of the odd clunk so shimmed it with thin plastic and quick grip, had to bash it in and use a tree to get it out, doesn't make a sound now.

I know I used to love watching impatient people behind me

small things amuse this small mind............
and seeing the looks on their faces when I would move over and signal them to pass, and they had been hiding behind me, and didnt think I could see them....

Don't care about impatient people behind me... Just the BIG trucks :o
Only time I wish I had a camera fitted was coming home from Cervantes one weekend down the new Ocean Road and when we came around a right hand bend spotted an Ambo with lights flashing behind us in the mirror.... As soon as I saw it we pulled over and let them past!
Got no idea how long they were behind us?

G'day mate, the strip the camera is mounted on is fairly flexible (I know because I wasn't thinking one day and lifted the spare back up by the camera and the strip bent ) but I have it pushing hard on the spare wheel so it does not move much. It certainly doesn't stop me identifying what's behind me and slowing down when I find some sod trying to "slipstream" behind the van. :boxing-25:

right-o
so I remover the rigid digit and got my number plate & lights fitted and wired and working......
IMAG0710.jpg
and also the reversing camera, and ran the 9600kms of cable thats supplied with it........
IMAG0711.jpg
and finished my box, just got to load it with "everything" thats not nailed down or red hot.......
IMAG0712.jpg

with "holding the box, I cut through the bottom of the box, and remounted the gas holder there, as well as putting in a "low" wall around t, so nothing would get caught up in any of the Gas thingys.......
IMAG0713.jpg
and I threw in some carpet, just to stop stuff from moving around too much in the box........
IMAG0714.jpg

as I said, now time to fill it........
have to dig out the "ball weight measurer thingy" and see what the difference is now (mind you I forgot to do it before I started, so its probably a mute point..
