''What did I do on the weekend'', well it started for me last Thursday, Mrs Pace says, hun (we all know what comes after that don't we fella's), what if we move the party for Sunday into the garage then all the kids can play under the pergola, that way we can use the side drive as entry, then I reply, so where will the van go? Oh just move it to the other side of the house, then we can move all garden out from under the van, do a couple of trip runs tomorrow (Friday) then you can weed out the back gazebo sitting area so we can finally landscape that garden bed, get some compact stones to place under the van parking spot, wack it down all solid.......
So, we done all that starting late Thursday and into through all day Friday. Saturday was basketball in the morning then dancing just before lunch, followed by another basketball game after lunch. Got home about 2pm when I didn't even get inside the house and started setting up for the young boys 10th birthday party. Tressel tables, chairs, bbq, ice boxes, streamers, balloons........ got inside about 6pm. Sunday morning was get that last shopping goodies then start cooking for guests. Mini Pace invited a dozen of school friends then the cousins too which ended up being a footy (AFL) side in total.
Let me tell you our poor trampoline got a real work out, then my uncle started the fire pit and out come the marshmallows. Everyone ate, real big too and the vino was flowing too amongst the oldies who sat under the patio heater all afternoon. Mrs Pace got the picnic blanket out and all kids went nuts, its like they knew we were going to do the pinata. So all the kids lined up and they all got a hit at it till finally it split open then just image 18 kids around a 12mt square picnic rug just taking a huge leap to collect the most lollies as you can. Kids are smarter nowadays, one of them was putting lollies in their pockets instead of their collection bag so others wouldn't dip into their stock. Clever.
The party went fantastic and i have just come in from cleaning the pergola. Mrs Pace and I just love having this parties for the kids and we busted our rumps let me tell you, so now its a glass of wine between Mrs Pace and I, with our feet up later in the evening reflecting on the moment of ''hun'' and what she'll like to see for the side yard. To be continued........
Pace.
