Hmm...
I am assuming a stobie must be metal surrounds filled with concrete.
Wonder how it got that name.

Well made it home after a 750 k round trip approx

although cold couldn't really complain too much. The days where cool and crisp in Robe. We did the usual school holiday things beach (walks!), movies, sightseeing, cricket, hung out in the main street making limestone sculptures (highly recommend for families) etc etc

Robe is a beautiful place and i imagine summertime would b horrendously busy!

The panda has now been packed away and awaiting repairs to the awning! &$@!?

Your van doesn't look old enough for the fridge to pack it in! I've heard of people pulling them out and turning upside down for a while? I'd call a repair agent first and go from there.....good luck! PS, lending your panda......your a better man than me! :)

Ha ha yeah i know mate but its the bro in law AND he's a plasterer! I have a big job for him to render the exterior of the house :)

Nah he's a great lad hard to say no to the guy!!

Ta for the advice. Do u normally take your van to 'jayco' dealers for services and repairs or do u go to independent repairs?

Here in rAdelaide i have a couple of choices within close proximity and wondering if the dealers slug more $$$, bit like car dealers with the servicing.

Stan. Going on the age of the fridge I would bet it's not cactus.

I've had 3 way fridges over the past 15 years, and a couple of times they've stopped working.

I was originally going to get my fridge serviced which was going to cost me around $300, but a mate of mine gave me other advice.

He said before you go get it serviced lets have a look at it ourselves.

We spent about 15 minutes undoing a few screws and bolts holding it in, unscrewed the power leads (12v & 240V) and the gas lead.

We then removed it from the van completely, rotated it into the upside down position and shook the sh*t out of it.

We did this on all of the six sides and just gave it a good tap on each side as well as a good shake, finally gave it one last good shake in the upside down position and re installed it back in the van. All up about 45 minutes work.

When back in the van I checked it on gas (it was previously not working at all on gas, and barely working on 24oV). It worked perfectly on gas. Within 15 minutes I could feel the freezer chilling up. I put it on 240 through the night, and to my pleasant surprise it was icy cold the following morning.

I`ve had a few mates have the same problem, gone around and helped them by going through the same process and each time found success. I think it just clears the tubes in the coil at the back of the fridge.

I reckon you should try the same thing. I think that's all you need to do.

Save a quid and try this first. I reckon that's all it needs.

I take my van to a independent repairer....lucky for me he's about 1 min from work! :) He is a Jayco approved repairer which is what you need for warranty work....after that I guess it doesn't matter as long as they do a good job!

Hi Stan.

I removed the fridge from my old van and gave it a good shake on all sides.

It was a fairly straight forward job, only a couple of bolts holding it on from behind, and a couple of screws to remove a cover plate from the front. I had to unscrew the exterior fridge vent to access the bolts holding it in place. I`m quite confident that all caravan fridges are easy to remove the same way.

You and I have the same model (14.44.2) so I imagine that this isn't a warranty thing.

I always think it's worth having a go yourself, and if it gets too complicated put things back together and try a professional. In saying that, I doubt you'll have any hassles removing and re installing your fridge. You'll probably save yourself $300 0r $400 by doing it.
