Thanks for the encouragement/kind words.
I never liked the tall thin cupboard beside the stove, it had two shelves but things seem to get chucked in or what ever you were after was always at the back or bottom of everything. So I made up a slide out cupboard so at least we can find stuff easier.

ATM ive just chucked everything that was in the cupboard back in them but its going to be more for tall bottles/cans/sprays/stand up type stuff.

Also about to remove the 240v rangehood extraction fan and fit a 12v fan to it. Seeing as we free camp 99% of the time it makes more sense to have it operate on 12v than 240v.

Fitted a 12v fan to the range hood today. Wasnt room to leave the 240v fan in there as well so removed it. Fan works great on 12v too.

Also fitted a Gas detector which is hard wired to 12v.

Well summer is long gone down here so it must be time for the mods to start again.
So today I removerd the double bed, base and carpet. My plan is to make a new half base out of struc. ply, then make a rhs steel frame top in two pieces so that one half will slide under the other. This will free up a heap of room around the shower and will add another couch for seating.
Pics to follow later

So does that mean the mattress is in two pieces also?
Am I correct in saying half the mattress becomes the seat back and the other half is the base?

Yeah, mattress will be in two or three pieces but hinged together by the cover so it dosnt seperate while sleeping on it
I never wanted a fold up bed but now I want more room around the shower.

First up, sorry about pic. quality, they come out real crappy in the van on my iphone.

As you can see, slight dust leak in rear LH corner and carpet has been partially replaced some time. But bed and base frame removed.

Half the new base has been fitted. Don't worry about gaps, my timber work is perfectly square but jayco's, well maybe not.

New half bed base, this will be hinged on the bed head to accsess storage underneath
I have also changed my mind with the fold up bed bit but will show you in pictures when done. We are also going to have new lino layed right through the van, timber grained look.

This is the new layout, pretty much a large "L" shape lounge with lift up section. This will allow more room around the shower door for getting dressed/undressed etc but we still have a full size bed and heaps of storage space. I also left room to the toilet while bed is complete for kids so they don't have to climb over the bed.(as much as I would have liked a bit more bed room.)

I will fit gas struts to bed bases to assist lifting while the drop down bed section will get a fold up leg or two.

That is seriously impressive Moto Mech! What a change for the better, wife must be thrilled!
Was surprised to see you're a mechanic. You look more like a qualified builder!
