HMMMMMM.... Looking at that maybe the rest of us have fitted the studs in the wrong location but not sure if ours covers would reach there?

Might have to try it on the weekend!

Makes sence @Janbo the way they have done it..... Ours sometimes "pop off" with a bid of wind as the tension is pulling straight on.
Mounting with sideways tension makes some sense?

So do I @Janbo (for the aesthetic side of things) but now you have got me curious!!!!
I don't think they are in the correct position.
If you check the pic I posted earlier, that was the position that they were supposed to be in, outside of the gas struts but inside the 'Ouside' the main body of the van. I suggest you go back to them and get them repositioned and fill the hole left behind. Being where you have had them put means the BEF is not poor properly tensioned it seems.image.jpg That's where the suppliers of my BEF instructed me to put them.
See these two pics. The first is from a Jayco fitting on their web site, the second from the instruction sheet from Holiday Annexes, the people I got mine from. I suggest at least go back and ask the question armed with pics.

I am going to Adl Jayco today/Thurs to pick up my van from its annual service and will ask and look.
Will post again as soon as I get back

Went to Adl Jayco today. They didn't have any vans with BEFs but when I showed the service people mine, he agreed that this was correct in his opinion.

The BEF stud is the outer one with white silicon, the inner one to the right is the stud for the Privacy Screen.
He strongly suggests you contact him with photos so he can ascertain the issue and what needs to be done.

Whilst mine are a different manufacturer (Kakadu) the press studs are on the van body between the lid side and the body, almost like above but on the vertical side rather than the flat ie move 3cm left. Have had them in some pretty strong winds and no issue with them popping off. And yes there is space when the lid is down, not much but enough. In regards to leaking at the top near the hinge haven't had any issues and have had some decent rain . Looking at Janbos photo the space where my studs are is not available on his due to the external" sail track. My sail track is under the lid and flush with the rubber seal. As someone above said the seal is thick enough to cope with the thickness of the sail track. Did over 1000km on dirt and no issues with dust at least from there. One issue that Kakadu have identified is that the extra weight can cause some droop in the lid. They supply a pole for the center to alleviate this.

Wouldn't it be nice for Jayco to provide fitting instructions with the product so we wouldn't need to have this discussion. :)

I picked mine up today while in Hobart and have just unpacked them looking for fitting instructions and their are non, will be onto them in the morning chasing them, so if I get them I'll post them.

When I got mine same thing... No instructions and neither did the local supplier at the time.
They also had to "wing it" to fit the first set there!!

Looking at the various stud locations, it seems that he ones that keep the BEF completely beneath the hard lid would have a much better chance if keeping both water and wind out.

Will be watching with interest before I finally decide where to put them next weekend.

I did it your way initially before I checked with provider to check and fix my mistake.
My initial position, like you had it, when I closed lid, sheared off the stud, hence my phone call and corrected position as in my photo in post #430 above. Had to fill original hole with white filler so can't see it now.
