Tool box is made, generator and gas bottle slide have arrived and have done a test fit.

Box is made from 2mm alloy propeller plate and is 1540mm wide, 600mm high and 450mm deep.
I will sucure it to the A frame by bolting it to the factory gas bottle mounts using 8x M10 bolts and plates. (more photos to come of installation)

Here are some pics of the box.
Side view. I put a bit of shape in to the door so it did not look just like a square box.

Have now sent it to be powder coated satin black to match the rest of the propeller plate on the Basestation.

picked the box up from the powder coaters and looks like an exact match to the factory propeller plate on the side of the van and the side tool boxes I fitted last month.

The locks are chrome small compression type and are keyed the same as the other tool boxes

Its now bolted on to the A frame using 8 x M10 bolts with nylock nuts. I made up a plate to go underneath the old gas bottle supports to spread the load and also a plate inside the box to sandwich it all together.

Gas regulator bolted inside the box on the back wall.

The slides are secured in with 6 x M8 bolts and nuts to each frame

Gas bottles both mounted in slide and held in place by ratchet straps.

Honda 2.0 generator fits great on slide

I had to relocate the A frame mounted tap further forward to be in front of the new box.

And some more pictures of it all fitted

Fitted grommet around the gas copper tube where it passes through the floor of the box and a vent.

The tool box was looking to big, black and plain so I fitted amber reflectors on the side of the box and white on the front to add some colour and i think it worked.

Have not checked ball weight yet but should not be to bad as the box and slides only weighs less than 30 kgs.
I have also removed the factory gas bottle holders and the factory wood carrying frame so that has reducers it by about 10kgs.
So all in all it is about 20kg plus the weight of the honda generator.
Will check ball weight tomorrow night before i hook it to the jeep as we are off to the flinders for a week.

Over the last few nights I have been making a rock tamer type of mudflap system to attach to the back of the Jeep.
As I have an Andersen hitch I made the bracket to attach to the holes of the hitch with 2 poles that attach to the bracket and I have mounted 22" x 14 " mudflaps to the poles.
I drilled a 85mm hole in the flaps to align where the exhausts are on the Jeep.
They look like they will do the job of protecting my new tool box from stone chips. Time will tell.

Just got back from our trip to Rawnsley park station in the Flinders Ranges and we had a great time.
Weather was perfect and van tool boxes made life much easier.
The bed end storm cover made it darker in the morning and warmer at night.
Here are a couple of pictures from the week away.

Fitted a new coffee machine to the Basestation today. We have always had one but we had pack and unpack all the time and took up to much valuable bench space.
So the new machine is a delonghi nespresso mini and i made it fit in to the slide out basket under the kitchen bench.
I also fitted a extra power point at the rear of the cupboard so the machine is pluged in and ready to go whenever the need hits.
Had to lower the top basket so it would slide in ond out but it was a perfect fit.

All back in cupboard ready to pull out and use. No more " have you set the coffee machine up yet" as I am trying do do everything else.

I have started fitting a second battery to the Basestation.
I have ordered a Bosch Gel battery (BG12-100) that is the same as the factory battery but I have to wait about 2 weeks for it to come as they have no stock.
I will be fitting the second battery under the club lounge next to the original battery. I had to move the original battery box over a bit to make room for the new one.
I got a new extra large battery box from BCF and screwed it to the floor of the Basestation with 4 self tapping screws and 4 mud guard washers

I will be wiring them up as per the drawing the Drover posted.

I also reprogramed the drifter control panel to be correct with the dual batteries. Each battery is 96AH so I have now set it to 192AH in the drifter settings.
This will give me more accurate battery level and time remaining on the drifter.
