I have never liked the fact that I could not use tank water for my filtered drinking water tap mounted at the sink when connected to mains water, So I have decided to run a complete new run of pipe to the filter tap at the kitchen sink and the cold tap in the bathroom basin.

To do this I bought 10mtrs of john guest blue colour pipe and a few joiners and some floor grommet's.
2017-05-18 18.45.17.jpg 2017-05-18 18.45.20.jpg

I had to drill 2 holes in the floor, 1 under the sink area and 1 in the pantry.
2017-05-18 20.42.50.jpg

fitted a divider under the van to split the water between filter tap and basin
2017-05-18 20.48.58.jpg

Blue line going to the filter tap small tube.
2017-05-18 19.20.07.jpg

I joined in to the tank pump water just after the pump and accumulator.
2017-05-18 21.39.37.jpg

Fitted a isolation tap to shut of mains back to the pump but I think the one way valve I have fitted inline may do the job.
2017-05-18 21.39.15.jpg

So now I have tank water at the filter tap and basin tap all the time regardless of being connected to mains or not.
If not connected to mains, Tank water will be at every tap, HWS, and toilet.

.

Very Nice, hey I noticed you have the anderson hitch. To make it work as it should you need to put a 4" spacer under the vans hitch so the chains pull straight, the difference in the way it handles is night and day. Also I ran mine like yours for about 8000km and because of the steep angle of the chains it rubbed part of the chain and the box tube away. I was ready to sell mine but decided to make up the spacer....very happy now.
PS love the couch.
Hi
We have an Anderson hitch for our 23' basestation. Showed your post to my hubby and he asked if you have any pics of the plate. We love the hitch and it has made towing so much better but if there is something that makes it even better we would be interested.
Many thanks
Jane

etc

also

Hello and welcome,
With the andersen hitch I did not make the 4inch spacer like Shane T suggested, I got the longer A frame brackets to suit the Jayco Outback chassis. They are Available as a spare part. They are longer than the standard brackets and put the chains at a better angle.

I have ticked a fair few option boxes like bunks, jhub, drawbar, 4 grill, harrier air (no ibis), 22 tv, ext ent, ext shwr + light, picnic table, 185lt fridge, 16in wheels, extra wardrobe, shelves, extra 240 & 12v points, bed storm cover. May be a few others which will come to mind as soon as I press send!

Was hoping to add extra water tank to the list but that looks unlikely. I am also looking at an aftermarket rear view camera which I'll install myself.

The main reason for choosing a Basestation is that I see it as a very versatile van.....I have a couple of young boys so will hope to fill the garage with motorbikes (and for myself!)
Also jayco dont list an extented drawbar up to 200 mm longer Pete

Hi Base23 i am just catching up on the comments on the Andersen hitch with my ranger i had to get it it cut down and redrilled as at full length it had 25mm of play left to right and when you went down hill you could feel the van steering the car now the probblem is solved PeteView attachment 49463

I redrilled my hitch also to move it in to the receiver about 70mm more. Looks neater and a lot less leverage on the back of the Jeep.

Thats heaps better on the Ranger the shaft wont go all the way in so you have to cut it to fit ,local engineering shop charged $25 to cut and redrill hole it would cost me more to buy the drill bit Pete

Hey Jane I would go with the longer arms as above. With the spacer my hitch (on the van) was to high according to ADR.
You will notice a huge difference which ever way you go.

Starting to make a front tool box for the basestation to fit the gas bottles and my new honda generator.
I have designed the box and it is going to be 1500mm wide with doors on both sides.
I have also just ordered a generator slide and a gas bottle slide to install inside the box to make access to them easy.

Generator slide

Still waiting on the tool box to be made so while waiting i fitted a jayco storm cover to the expanda bed end.
Fits and looks great. Its the 2016/2017 cover so it is able to be left on and folded under the hard lid.
Here are some install pics.
Alloy sail track cut to length and drilled

Good stuff it looks great,
we have the holiday annexe brand which works well but i found the studs are a pain and half the time pop off, so i had a velcro strip sewn into the bottom edge for holding it up when closing and sides to seal the edges properly .Pete

I can see the side studs are going to be a pain as they seem to pop apart very easy.
May look at doing something to secure it better.
