Its a lot easier to leave it hooked up when practable for the quick overnighters. We did it a couple of times on our trip also and as you said it wasn't possible with the old campers.:tea:

Just the Patrol for now, but there is provision for the extra camera on the van later on :thumb:

Also fitted some wetseat covers to the Patrol today. The manufacturer is stopping the two tone model, so are selling them cheap ($99 for the pair as opposed to $169). Very happy with them. Head rest covers are extra $$ though.

I had to settle for crappy Bombers colours, but the price was right:evil:

Next on the to do list was 2 inch lift on the Patrol. Got the mates rates kit from suspension stuff online that included their own shocks and steering dampener.

Pretty sure the shocks are rebranded and revalved lovells and/or ultimate suspension shocks. The steering dampener is a Raw4x4 big bore one. The kit also inlcuded Dobinson coils and rear sway bar extension brackets and a brake bias bracket.

I'm not as skilled as Cruza, so had my mechanic fit it all and am super impressed with the results!

Had to get a new drop hitch from my local towbar man, it makes the towball sit 2 inches lower than a standard hitch. This way the van stays nice and level like it did before the lift. And here is the result, which i am very happy with. Can' believe how well the car handles with the van on now.

Then today i decided to try my new stonestomper and also fit the bikes to the bike carrier now the number plate has been moved.

Fitting the stomper was easy and the quality and workmanship exceeded my expectations. Its a credit to you Christian!

And next was to make sure the new number plate position was visible. Its probably borderline but i think should be OK. Much better than before!

Finally i fitted my gas bottle valves to both gas bottles. They are a safety shut off valve as well as letting you know when its time to fill up again. Had them on the Hawk previously and they worked well.

Hey skip and boots, i got them from Harvey Norman. They are the Black and Stone brand.

I think Bunnings also sell a similar one in the BBQ section usually:tea:

Thanks moto will have a look and see next time at hardly normal's. I noticed in your pic of your new stone stomper you don't have a WDH fitted. How do you find it towing the 14 without a WDH. I also opted out of using a wdh and fitted air helpers to the rear coils, these have been great for leveling the ride but i notice a little sway now and then mainly on rougher back roads etc. This being my first van i'm not sure if this is normal or something i should try and eliminate all together. Any thoughts would be appreciated as i don't really want to shell out for a WDH if it's not going to help.

Boots i've never had a WDH on any of my campers or vans so not really sure what impact it will have. I am really happy with my suspension setup and never really have an sway issues so happy to keep running as is. I feel like the type of car and speed has a bit to do with it. When i used the Colorado to tow it felt like the van was a bit more in control of the car (if that makes sense?) whereas with the Patrol, it weights over 1/2 ton more and really feels like its in control of the van. I never go over 95km/hr too (mainly cause the Patrol is s slow coach).

This could all be in my mind though as i have nothing to campare it to (using a WDH and a car that can tow over 100km/hr).

Well we are back from a 4 week tour of Victoria, the general route included:

Wollongong - Burrinjuck Waters (near Yass) - Hume Weir (Albury) - Corowa - Echuca - Bendigo - Maryborough - Lake Fyans (Grampians) - Portland - Warnambool - Port Campbell - Cape Otway - Wye River - Euroa - Hume Weir again - Wollongong.

It was a great trip and we had some good weather except for the last few days. We covered 3501km's, camped in our Expanda for 26 nights, and saw so many amazing things.

Highlights:
- Helicopter Ride over the 12 Apostles
- Sleeping among the many Koalas at Cape Otway (and also Wye River)
- Wye River, the place was an unexpected suprise
- Exploring each town by bike. Something new we haven't done on previous holidays, the kids had a blast on the back in their toddler seats.
- NOT WORKING!!!!!!!

It will take a while to sort through the photos but will post a few pics soon and a very basic trip report:thumb:
