Hi guys,

We are over the moon!

We drove into jayco yesterday and the Missus got all teary. I took her for a drive to get something from the supermarket. As we passed the front of jayco I turned in and handed her the cheque. She soon realized what was going on and found it hard to contain her excitement. It was a nice moMent

Handover went well. The only issue was that they forgot to give me the extra payload on the an that I asked for. The handover guy proceeded to tell me that all jayco vans have around the same payload. He soon realized that I had done my research after being able to quote the payloads of all 16 and 17 foot expanda models. He staid that he would look into a new compliance plate for me. Will wait and see on that one.

Apart from that the handover was Great. Jayco had included everything else that I had asked for including the jockey wheel to the centre od the aflame and the switches above the bench. The double switch blue led lights that come with the can are a nice little addition.

We have decided to head away tonight just for a night to lake bolac or mortlake for a night for shake down. I will get some photos up as soon as I can. We had friends over for drinks last night and I enjoyed showing the new toy off. My folks even payed a surprise visit to check her out.

I bought myself a NASA bm-1 battery monitor and will make this installation my first mod. I have a growing list and can't wait to get started. I also need to source a second battery, shelves to robe, Lara's storage tubs etc etc. It's all about time and money.

Cheers guys.

Thanks for all the well-wishes and interest guys.

We took the new van down to Mortlake for our shakedown and she worked a treat. Very happy with how she towed behind the territory. 14.6 l/100km overall for the trip and thats with not really driving conservatively.

I had hoped to get some photos up sooner....

I also wanted to share the mods that I have done to the van so far. Nothing special at this stage, but I have enjoyed getting my hands dirty and find the whole process quite rewarding.

First was the installation of the Nasa Bm-1 Battery monitor. You can see it on the photo below on charge (float charge I am assuming)
photo.JPG

First was to take apart the seats to get some room to work.

Then run the cable from the microwave cavity down to the battery and then wire it all together via the supplied shunt. Gotta love the over-use of pink space filler the stuff was everywhere!

Cable half way there!

Here is a close up of the monitor drawing a total of 1.6A. Thats with the two main lights on. Gotta love LEDs!!!!!

For a total of $6 from flea bay I managed to get this 12v dual USB charger, perfect for charging mine and the wife's iPhones

12v socket next to our bed.

I have also installed @Lara's kitchenmaid storage stacker in the robe (Thanks for that mate)

Sorry about the quality of the photos.

Cheers!

great work Kenshi, nice to see you're getting in there and adding your own extras.
I need to get one of these 12v USB chargers. With several iPads and iPhones between us that would come in handy. And be a whole lot tidier without all the usual 240 charging cables that are all over the place.
Glad you've put the slide n stacks in the pantry, how good are they! And not only does it make easier to get to things at the back but a bonus being that when you arrive at your destination you can open the pantry with confidence knowing that nothing's gonna coming falling out when you open the door!

Hey Kenshi, great looking van mate, congrats! Loving the look of the black checker with those rims. I just ordered the BM-1 compact yesterday......can't wait to install they're a great unit, will save pulling the lounge cushion up and poking around with the meter to see whats going on. Also like the USB charger.....any chance of the link?

Cheers.
