fantastic yours was with cable you can get to. Yes great to have a multi meter. our van booked in for the 1st of August to get a new roof fitted to replace the cable in the roof.. be there 2-3 weeks.. I gather Sarah will be free every weekend while the van is in. She has worked most of them for the last 8 weeks :(

WOW..... Need to replace the roof just to replace the cable @davemc ?
I replaced our winegaurd cable last week due to another broken cable.... Was a PINA but doable!

yep the whole roof its in a channel they cannot pull it through.. It was not their first choice been back a few times.... Interesting as I think a few things have changed with the roof since we got our model internally what they get. The Bunk curtain goes around and wireless lights now included... I do worry we get a leak now :( Pretty sure they said they take off the A/C and solar and swap it over.

Maybe that's why I'm lucky mine was installed after delivery.... They had to drill and fit it, pull cable in, after the build. But had to remove the winegaurd to do it!

Hope they get it sorted @davemc and give you the upgraded extras as in wireless lights etc.
If they take off the A/C and Solar Panel I hope they reseal them with the same amount of silicon/sikaflex our aerial was refitted with!

In between searching for LPG and carbon monoxide detectors after seeing @Holden_man s post about his parents unfortunate incident Gas Explosion inside van (Luckily no major injuries apart from minor burns and the expected shock etc) I did manage to almost finish another luxury/easier setup mod today!

Sat Dish 003.JPG
Satdish clamp so no need to carry inside the van or vehicle! Pole needs modifying or remaking to reduce the length hanging under the bumper and making the stop light visible !

Sat Dish 004.JPG
Swing out to the side for opening the bed end! Might even work as a usable mount instead of the tripod dependent on location.

After fitting the aerial I thought "What else can I do to make life easier setting up and packing up?"

So between rebuilding the computer and dodging the rain on the weekend decided to permanently mount and wire in the TV and Satking Satellite Decoder!!!!!

View attachment 33346
Table leg cut down, mounting plates fitted and screwed in place top and bottom, TV bracket fitted and modified to utilise U-bolts to hold it in place. Wing nuts used so it can be loosened and spun around if required.

After hours of looking around for an option to hide and permanently mount the satellite decoder I found some document holders at Officeworks. Made up brackets to fit all the way under them and fitted them inside the TV cabinet. 1 for the decoder and remotes. 1 for the satellite accessories, spare aerial fittings, cables etc. 1 for magazines/books. Made room in the overhead cupboard for more of Mrs Dagree's junk ;)

Wiring has since been tidied up since pics were taken.

@dagree can you give some more info re this I have an 80cm TV in the van as well and have to sit it behind a lounge before pitting it out. You made the mount from a table leg can you give me some info re the parts and do you travel with the TV in that position?

Dropping the spare, swinging the sat dish, lifting the hard, dropping the bed base ..... is it just me or does this seem oddly familiar

Will try and get a close up pic soon @The Goodwins and see if I can find details of the bits I used on the Bunnings website and post if found!

Hey that scene (Showing my age here!!!!!!) reminds me of myself first thing in the morning walking out the bedroom in the dark :p

One thing with the setup it only takes an extra 15 - 20 seconds when setting up/packing up! And no requirement to find a hidy hole for the dish while traveling 8-)

might I suggest a piece of 65x65x5 or 75x75x5 underneath, to support the bottom of the pole.......
that will guarantee that its sitting where it needs to so you can see the tail light
and
once you loosen that clamp, the thing will slide down.......... and bark knuckles

That has already been solvered @bigcol ...... Will show you the outcome when I get the post back from our fabricator!!!!!!

Had some spare time this afternoon so thought I'd test the satellite dish now everything was fitted and wired in. Set everything up, turn them on and OH...... Card not fully activated. Came inside and checked email from the other week and it says it is!!!!!

OK so time to read the instructions :o DOH!!!!! have to activate the card while everything's setup and turned on.... OK so I do, leave it for 20 to 30 minutes (Good time to sit back with a beer)... Check it out and now getting a "No Service" error >:(

Plug the cable directly from the dish into the VAST set top box and BINGO....... Away we go with 200+ channels of TV and Radio :applouse:

Now time for another coldie and a re-think!!!!!! Remembered the issues @davemc has been having and gave me some ideas. Get the multimeter out and check original TV antennae cable (Never tried it out as yet due to having the winegaurd aerial fitted by dealer prior to pickup).... Yep you guessed it..... A short somewhere Great!!!!!

Disconnect external plug and find a dodgy crimped F-Type fitting behind it with a PAL adapter (Actually fell off as I pulled on it)..... YAYYYYY found the issue so cut the cable back a bit and replace with a new F-Type one! Check again and NO GO!!!!!!!

Pull the internal point apart and have a look..... HMMMMMM looks OK but seeing it was the old PAL fitting I thought time to change to F-Type. Check to see if enough play in the cable then cut off the old fitting. Don't know how much heat was put on it when soldered but had to cut 50 - 60mm off due to solder running down and melting the inner sheath. Strip back and check... No more short so fitted plug and tested.... YAYYYYYYY problem solvered :)

Ran out of light so next weekend's job will be to tidy up cables etc (Again!) and double check everything.

The good thing to come out of this afternoon's session was that if it plays up again I now know where the cable runs and will just pull it out and replace the lot!

Another fine example of Jayco's QC >:(... Rant over!
They didnt do me any favours with the coax and plugs either. I was lucky that the coax wasnt the issue, just what they did with the plugs and plates on the ends of the coax. Had an electronics dude draw me up a plan of how to connect it all correctly

Yeah the main issue was the connections @Crusty181 and as said... If it happens again (After my attempt at fitting new ones!!!!) I now know where the cable goes and will replace with a pre-made cable.

Here ya go @The Goodwins ... Hope this helps!!!!!
The plan is to travel with it in situ. Big test will be in 3 1/2 weeks.
With rubber feet on the TV Base and tilting it slightly before tightening things up it sits there pretty solid :eagerness:

Close ups of the finished unit!

002a.jpg
Crest Tilt Action Wall Mount... Check mounting holes on the TV as I had to modify to fit ours.
Measured and drilled extra holes for the U-Clamps. ~$40.

002b.jpg
LEGGZ 60 x 710mm Black Adjustable Leg. ~$20

002c.jpg
LEGGZ Vertical Plate (Similar to what I used but was black). ~$4 Screwed onto the plastic cap on the leg adjuster.

Add a few extra $'s for 60mm U-Bolts and heatshrink to go on them!

After all the talk on @Holden_man 's post regarding his parent's unfortunate situation with the van explosion our protection is now fitted... Just hope they are not needed as they are bloody ear shattering when tested :cower: :surprise:

Went to fit the modified pipe for mounting the satellite dish and found it to be 100mm too short (Dish covered half the stop light) so looks like next weeks job to finish it off then use the van the following weekend :D :)
