While the front bed end was dropped and I had the drill out thought it was a good time to fit the 12V multi socket...... Save the daughter having to unplug the TV at nights to charge her phone, tablet etc without leaving her bed ;)

Good one David, I use a whip aerial most of the time for my mobile wifi but when the signal is poor then I set up the Yagi but you need to know the bearing of the tower as you need to be spot on pointing it, can be a bit of stuffing around .

Have had a few enquiries as to the mobile/data aerial I fitted...... So here's some info!!!!
This is the one I got...... Strike B2 7dBi . Wasn't the cheapest (at $199) but is the newest one available and covers 700MHz,850MHz,900MHz,1800MHz,1900MHz,2100MHz Bandwidths (Next G, GSM, 3G, 4G LTE & 4GX Networks)

They put something similar on my truck (in my working days) as they needed me to have phone contact on some jobs up the valleys but I found the old cheapy aerial that was on it was just as good as the all singing and dancing unit, I would still like one though.

I do like the list of phones they have , but out west if the phone aint Blu Tick it's just a stick on the bull bar.

And a lot depends on the reception in areas as to how efficient an aerial, or phone, will work!

After fitting the aerial I thought "What else can I do to make life easier setting up and packing up?"

So between rebuilding the computer and dodging the rain on the weekend decided to permanently mount and wire in the TV and Satking Satellite Decoder!!!!!

Img_0556.jpg
Table leg cut down, mounting plates fitted and screwed in place top and bottom, TV bracket fitted and modified to utilise U-bolts to hold it in place. Wing nuts used so it can be loosened and spun around if required.

After hours of looking around for an option to hide and permanently mount the satellite decoder I found some document holders at Officeworks. Made up brackets to fit all the way under them and fitted them inside the TV cabinet. 1 for the decoder and remotes. 1 for the satellite accessories, spare aerial fittings, cables etc. 1 for magazines/books. Made room in the overhead cupboard for more of Mrs Dagree's junk ;)

Wiring has since been tidied up since pics were taken.

Had some spare time this afternoon so thought I'd test the satellite dish now everything was fitted and wired in. Set everything up, turn them on and OH...... Card not fully activated. Came inside and checked email from the other week and it says it is!!!!!

OK so time to read the instructions :o DOH!!!!! have to activate the card while everything's setup and turned on.... OK so I do, leave it for 20 to 30 minutes (Good time to sit back with a beer)... Check it out and now getting a "No Service" error >:(

Plug the cable directly from the dish into the VAST set top box and BINGO....... Away we go with 200+ channels of TV and Radio :applouse:

Now time for another coldie and a re-think!!!!!! Remembered the issues @davemc has been having and gave me some ideas. Get the multimeter out and check original TV antennae cable (Never tried it out as yet due to having the winegaurd aerial fitted by dealer prior to pickup).... Yep you guessed it..... A short somewhere Great!!!!!

Disconnect external plug and find a dodgy crimped F-Type fitting behind it with a PAL adapter (Actually fell off as I pulled on it)..... YAYYYYY found the issue so cut the cable back a bit and replace with a new F-Type one! Check again and NO GO!!!!!!!

Pull the internal point apart and have a look..... HMMMMMM looks OK but seeing it was the old PAL fitting I thought time to change to F-Type. Check to see if enough play in the cable then cut off the old fitting. Don't know how much heat was put on it when soldered but had to cut 50 - 60mm off due to solder running down and melting the inner sheath. Strip back and check... No more short so fitted plug and tested.... YAYYYYYYY problem solvered :)

Ran out of light so next weekend's job will be to tidy up cables etc (Again!) and double check everything.

The good thing to come out of this afternoon's session was that if it plays up again I now know where the cable runs and will just pull it out and replace the lot!

Another fine example of Jayco's QC >:(... Rant over!
