Time to revive an old thread. I'm toying with the idea of selling my 576xp Husky and getting something around the 50cc size with about a 16"bar. The reason is room is at a premium when camping or 4x4ing in the Triton and the 576 is a big saw to lug around. Any thoughts on a good saw? I'm thinking about the 550xp husky????

For anybody who's interested I've got a Stihl MS 250 Wood Boss, great saw but I'm stuffed as to how to hand sharpen the chain with the file and gauge that Stihl provided, nothing I did could get the chain back to the same level of sharpness as it was when it was new. Then I was put onto the Ozito Chainsaw 85W Chain Sharpener OZCCS85WA that was available through Bunnings. I've just used it for the first time, setup instructions could be better but with a little thought I got it setup, sharpened the chain in under 10mins, back on the saw for a test run through some well seasoned ironbark and bugger me if it isn't as sharp as the day I got it, wasn't real sure about Ozito as a brand but this thing did the trick no prob's. I actually can't wait to blunt the chain again now so I can sharpen it again.

Another one for Stihl, mine is used for camping, track clearing, and wood for the heater. Great little saw, must be 10 yr old now, Stihl going strong.

However with some mates getting a great run out of eBay cheapies, I'll be likely to give one of these a go next.

The old man brought a ebay cheapy. There heavy, fuel hungry, underpowered, noisy and want a 25:1 ratio. I think that sums it up.

I grabbed a 66cc Baumr from eBay on a whim. Started and ran really well for a while, but it was annoyingly gutless. The breather hose split, and was worth more of the time than the thing cost strip it and fix it. The thing looked great tho.

Threw it the bin and bought a Husky 236. Pretty happy with it and it came with 5 year warranty .... cant beat that.

I have a 72cc Baumr with a 24" bar on it and it's sitting on the shed floor, it leaks bar oil badly so I don't use it. Anyone can have it for a slab;).
