Oh and @chartrock our new hone is 5 bed 3 bath and I am getting a 12x18 shed so I'll have a man cave ;) 25 acres just out of town on the west side of Parkes. The offer is still there for anyone on here who would like to drop in on their way through!

And mum n dad moved into their home after they booted the old tenants. They bought the block next door to our new block, but Dads cancer is back, so I think they'll build a new house before he tries therapy again.

Congrats with the bub, I am one of four girls (and 1 brother, youngest mind you and we wonder why he is like he is lol) it was great growing up with sisters, your girls will have a ball as they grow up, and my dad is still sane and all our rock. we started our new house about 3 weeks ago so it's all go, down this end of the country, rain has held up some bits and pieces, we are hoping to be in by 1st October, that's when our house sale settles and we have to be put of the old house. Fingers crossed for your dad. Oh just think by the time it warms up and the house is done the bub will ready to start her camping adventures.

I have the one month itch and I don't know how much longer I can hold it back! We're meeting some friends in Canberra in august (brrrr) so that will probably be her maiden voyage.

Haha and @The Goodwins I might need to invest in an excavator I reckon! I have loaaads of guns so I'm good there. And sorry to hear about the weather mate! ;D we were planning a gold coast and Brisbane 3 week escape for September/October but unfortunately we have had to cancel due to our huge hole we are building which we seem to be throwing every spare dollar at! I never gave much thought to all the little things you need to buy when building a house.. and it is so much easier to just buy it rather than getting the bank to pay... like my shed, they want 20% deposit at ordering, then you can submit plans to council. Once approved they want 40% to start kit supply, and 40% on kit delivery to the block. But! The bank will not pay a cent until it is on the block and built. Makes it hard huh!

Hi Blacky, we are on the way thru Parkes on the 27th July as we conclude our trip Adl-Darwin-Bundaberg-Mooloolaba-PtMcQuarie-Adel. Thinking of staying over night at Forbes. Good place to stay?

Mate there is an awesome spot at forbes on the bank of the lake that circles the town.. if you're coming into town from the south (west wyalong) turn left at the motor museum before the big bridge... follow it a couple hundred metres or so and I'm sure you'll see other nomads pulled up..

Haha sorry just re-read your question... from the north I'd just roll straight into town, follow the Newell til you hit the bridge... first right and away you go :)

And @Drover the shed will never be big enough! Its no where near as big as I dreamed, but, its all I can afford so it'll have to do. Still it is 12x20m and 3.6m to the gutter. Plus we're getting a 6x10m for all our horse gear so that'll free up a heap of room. Plus the ride on and all that other junk ;)

Mine has gone from 7x9 to 13x9 with upgrade planned to go to 20 x 9 stuck with 9 as on a hill and couldn't borrow or pay for a dozer, big mistake is I should have made it higher but final extension will give me height, dug out bank, fitted big walk under ramps and when new extension done will be able to park Expanda in side as well ATM it lives in a big shade house. Just have to replace a couple of hundred metres of fences then hit road again....woo hoo.

Is that Lions Park or is it 100m past the Lions park, called Wheogo I think?
Is it a CP or a free camp site, overnight area?
Have read that the council wants to stop O/N and have erected a No Camping, No O/N at Lions.
I believe you need to go to the western end of Wheogo if you want to stop O/N.
Does it have a dump point nearby?
Will just be overnight for us on our run home but don't mind stopping to explore the town and find a bakery for coffee and a bun. Thanks for the info.

I think the Lions park area is where you will see the old plane on a pole, but yes if you cross the bridge then turn west (right), and follow it up.. i will almost guarantee there will be other vans parked up. Over night free camp at that western end. Not sure about a dump point in forbes.. although there would be one there somewhere :) its a beautiful little town, i'd live there if it was closer to the mines.

Lol,lol, there's always a mod to be done to everything at my place. Used a set of Volvo FH16 chassis rails as ramps, drive thru back door and onto the ramps, walk under to change the oil etc, will fit a ride on (special mod done) up to a`F250 no sweat makes life so much easier but only want to do servicing don't want to get into the heavy duty stuff nowadays. Fishing to do.
