Looks a very nice set up there @blacky... How sad has my life got... second thing I noticed in your photo (other than the awesome van) was the fact it looks like you've got a strider.... :baby:

Too right @chartrock, anytime mate :)

thanks @Smergen and yes hahaha i feel your pain, i now notice these things in life.. oh how things change. SWMBO had to have a strider, because... well i don't know really, so we got a strider. Its a fair squeeze in the prado though, as we need one of the third row seats for our eldest. Ah well, happy wife, happy life :)

Ha ha... We got the Strider many moons ago with the first, and it's seen many many travels across our 3 kids. The rear tyres are completely shot and suffering some solid negative camber, but we didn't manage to kill it, despite our best efforts. We bought it because it fit in the boot of our Falcon with the gas tank, but yep, left no room for anything else. It was really well priced too and the boss could fold and lift it with no issues. Either way, we're past that now, and the old girl currently sits in the corner of the shed... hard rubbish collection just seems an unjust way to part ways with such a trusty performer.

howdy readers :)

thought I'd drop a quick update on here on where the black family is up to.

The house still hasn't commenced really, hopefully the pad will be poured over the next week.. council gave us hell! the expanda has been earning its tucker lately, we leave her at the block and camp there on my days off.. well, actually I'm half way through my day shifts at the moment and we havn't left yet ;D now have 2x 1000l pods gravity feeding the van, saves filling pods weekly. My big generator has been retired and we use my outlaws 2.3kva for the microwave and kettle. (necessities with a baby lol). hopefully we've seen the last of the frosts for the year. Now just need to deal with jayco over our let-down bed end covers... and get the ski boat ready to go!

just did some figures.. we're at about night number 55 in the van.. which makes it about $872/night so far ;)

we're trying to be a bit more independent out here, I spent a few hours today hooking up a 240v pressure pump to our generator and washing machine. unfortunately once I press go on the 8kg front loader it won't spin around.. it tries, gets about half way then comes up with a fault code. I'm hoping the Genny just aint big enough, as the washing machine is only a year old? thoughts people??

What size genie is it?
Do you know the power rating of your washing machine?
This should be written on the plate on the rear of the machine.
If power required by pump+ power rating of washing machine > genie power then won't work unfortunately

From the time of the Big Floods here. I had a 5.5kva genny and it ran fridges, washing machine and water pumps okay, should have tried it on the bore to see if it would get it up and running.
Actually just had a quick squiz at our front loader and I reckon running a small household pump as well as the washer, a minimum 2kva to cover the machine start up and spin, modern machines would require an inverter genny or you could fry the board. No spin cycle would need less juice.
