Thanks @macca i haven't checked out the Colorado as i am a ford man from way back ;) the Holden name is like a sware word in my family Lol :D but the holden look great being in the class as the Ranger , BT-50 I will checkout the Colorado to what they have to offer basically im looking for a 4x4 with great towing capacity & Canopy & comfort for the right price at the moment the Triton GLX-R with all options is at the right price around the 40K drive away if the other car yards can sharpen there pencils a bit more & let me tell ya fords are trying very hard with 3 phone calls a day :biggrin1::thumb: fords are trying get me in a XLS Ranger 2.2 deisel 4x4 with the XLS options plus the canopy, tub-liner which still doesn't have tow pack for around 46K.

Don't worry, they are not Holden's so to speak so you can remain loyal, they are a GM Australia vehicle :). Price wise nothing comes close to the current Triton. We went auto LT, couldn't justify extra for LTZ. I optioned it with Tow bar, Holden Tubliner (It is a excellent fit), ARB canopy with heavy duty roof rack and internal bars and reverse camera. Depending on your canopy, I think you would be very close to your budget. The thing I liked with the Colorado was the large screen infotainment system as standard, little things like reverse sensors as standard and the reverse camera was a $250 option not a $1000 plus one like others, think it is standard on 2015 models. Ford tried to sell me a Ranger with a 2.2 to get the price down. The 3.2 is an excellent motor in my opinion and I was very hesitant going to 2.8 so for me 2.2 was not an option, but we have an 18 expanda with slide out so it is quite heavy. It can be a pain buying a new vehicle, dealers drive me insane.

My 2013 RG Colorado hasent missed a beat yet either. I bought the 4x4 auto and is was far Cheeper than the Ranger or Bt 50 a years ago by about 8 grand. I too purchased the poverty module LT but before it was delivered home I got it delivered to a mates workshop were it was given a 2inc lift, heavy duty shocks, Air bags, canapy, higher profile rimes, off road tyres, solar panels, spottie's and then finaly driven home.
The main reason for the suspension upgrade was off roading with a heavy van and I wanted a firmer ride and hopefully better handling package with the van on the road too.

So far mine has not missed a beet but the Colorado is sill young.

G'day @17triton was just wondering would you recommend the triton 4x4 GLX-R Fully optioned up over the ford ranger i've done a little bit of home work value for money the triton sounds good compared to the ranger when you ad the options the triton has to the ranger it is $20 grand dearer.
Triton looks great just not sure ?o_O
Hi Relle & Mark. I just bought a new Triton I bought a GLX+ for $28k drive away. I did look at the GLXR but I couldn't work at the $10k price difference for the few little extras. Very happy with it. I looked at the Colarado LTS but the cheapest I could get one of those was for $41k.

We got a GLX-R for $36,500 in Ironbark. Went for the GLX-R for 3 things, rear window opens (we have a dog) it has a 5 speed auto and also the Super Select transfer over the standard one.
The thing I liked about the SuperSelect was it basically makes it an All Wheel Drive on the road if the roads are slippery from ice, rain or whatever.
Mostly drive it in rear wheel drive but if there is heavy rain, slippery roads etc you can simply change it into 4H all wheel drive on the fly up to about 100kph and then when the roads get better then simply switch it back to rear wheel drive. You really notice the handling on the wet winding roads as it doesn't have any of the usual ute light rear end problems. And the wife loves it in town when it's raining heavy, feels way more safe through round abouts, hill starts etc.

Just an update on the iPad mount it came through with flying colours on Saturday, it was stuck on at 8:30 and taken off at 5: 30 including some serious corrugation near the end of the day.

Had another trip out to Wombat Forrest this time with a group from stalkbook had a great day and got the mighty trighty bogged for the first time lol. Big cleanup when I got home, 15bucks in the car wash and another hour on the hose at home. Still have a snatch strap to clean. But me and my little mate loved it!

Great pic mate. Shame I couldn't catch you today, but as I said, we had a few dramas on the home front (all good now...).

Hopefully I can swing through the 'rat next week on a Goldfield Hwy tour and catch up.

Out of interest, you powering the compressor with the fridge port? Mine only has clamps for the battery, 12V socket could be handy when I wire up the tub.

I had the Triton in for its first warranty issue, a few weeks ago I started having trouble downshifting from 4th to 3rd it was "locking" out ,go back to 2nd and back up to 3rd no probs. I rang my local Mitsy dealer Friday week ago and they told me to bring it in on last Monday to assess , they took it for a spin and said there was an issue and booked it in asap which was today. They pulled the gear box out and found the synchro buggered, replaced and now it is smooth as. Very happy with the prompt service.:).
I found on the Triton forum there was a few that had the same issue but all got them fixed ok.
I have started on my next mod as well on the Triton, I'm making up a cage to go around the fridge slide so my swags and gear don't fall behind the frige when I slide it out. I will post some pics when it's done.

That's great service @17triton and good to hear it was sorted quickly without any fuss.

This new mod sounds handy too, you don't wont to make it to hard to access the fridge :very_drunk:
Too right mate:very_drunk:!!! Trying to make it more user friendly. With the fridge and drawers, 3swags camp chairs and other crap it`s going to be a sqeeze but I want to do more 4x4ing touring with the kids. After suspension I might have to look at roof racks.

Well after getting the gearbox synchro fixed a couple of weeks ago when we went on our trip to Jamieson we noticed the clutch slip a little and also found a little oil in the driveway at home so back to the dealer for them to have a look. They said a seal was buggered and the gearbox had to come back out and they would look at the clutch but basically said they didn't touch the clutch when they took the box out so I was a little worried.
Dropped the car off this morning and got a phone call at 1:00 They said the clutch was stuffed and I asked who was paying for that then? They straight up said oil had got onto the clutch and wrecked it and that it would all be covered by them under warranty:encouragement:. I have to wait until tomorrow to pick the car up but have to say that I'm impressed with their service and acknowledging that they were at fault and rectifying the problem quickly. Very happy.
