Finally succumbed to the "Sick of the #@$€ mirrors blowing in, bouncing around, not staying as set" syndrome and bought some Clearview mirrors. Why doesn't someone make some a bit smaller?

We got some 'elephant ears' as well but have altered the wires in the existing mirrors to make it easier to swap them over without taking off the whole door trim when we need to use them ... the Hilux is my everyday car and I got sick of hopping in/out at the shops to push in the mirrors!!!

I recon they would be great if towing all the time but I'm worried about the blind spot they create. Let us know how they go Pete.

I reckon they'll go on the 'rado for the Big Lap, but I'm not too keen until this point. Having said that, I love the convenience...

I've had mine on for 3 years, only twice I have had to pull them in at carparks.
that being said
you do get used to the "Dumbo" ears after awhile, and dont notice them

What blind spot? Concave mirror on bottom solves that one. @17triton. The extra width is taking some getting use to though. The beast no longer fits into the garage without folding the mirrors in......

We have the clearviews on the car all the time. If you aren't that tall (ie can't see over the top of them) they can create a blind spot when looking left, especially if the car coming towards you is a smallish car. (Happened once to me). I find they are great. They do stick out a bit, and others never notice until they try to get out of their car and hit your mirror with their shoulder. Next car will def have them too.

They would be nice but thats a lot of fuel spent on mirrors that some only use a couple of times a year and change their vehicle every 4, I'll stick to my $150 jobs, they don't move or mark things and they got a workout last year, worked great.

i think @17triton may be referring to the blind spot due to the size of the mirrors - have to admit I struggled with them for a bit when they were first put on ... !!!
That is what I was referring too, I remember having a near miss years ago in a work HQ tonner with truck mirrors on it with a car behind the mirror.

Imagine what it's like in some trucks, the blind spot can be 2ft wide, head nearly falls off as you bob around trying to see and then there's always a small car hiding in the spot which is just at the right speed to remain hidden, just missed so many. Usually at corners/intersections.

Speaking of mirrors, other than the clear view, what have people found that work well.
Quick to install, low vibration, don't blow in etc. I've got some with a suction caps that stick to the door, with a strap around the mirror. Not overly impressed. Hoping there is a better option out there.

That's the one I use and have no problem with it except I don't like the suction mark it leaves on the paintwork. It can be polished off but it takes some effort.
