for those people who DO use these types of Mirrors
I have a few suggestions for you (not THAT kind of suggestions)
the buckle piece where the arm down meets the strapping
- try and position this as close to a body line as you can, as it will help stability, and less damage to body panel
- if necessary, put inner tube behind it to help stop panel damage
the strap coming from the top of the door to the buckle (depending on door)
- to stop them "vibrating" from the wind, get one of those "seatbelt" snuggle things for kids..... place over strap, and you can slide up or down to stop that vibrating noise - you will find the "sweet spot" for it
the clamp hook at the window end
- try and make sure you get the same position everytime, as it will and does damage the rubber around your window.
- If you have big wind deflectors on your doors, maybe cut out a small section where this fits, as sometime you dont want the mirror in the middle of the door (hurts your neck trying to see out them
the clamp hook at the bottom of the door
- a small piece of inner tube cut to size and either glued or loose, place this on the hook before attaching to door - helps minimize damage to bottom of the door
the Aluminum slide the mirror sits on
- if like me, you re-package it to the smallest area when not using them, spray the slider with Windex or Fly spray before pulling the alli arm out, this will lubricate it and make it easier to open and adjust, and then dry off with little or no residue
- make sure the arm with the mirror is flat ie: horizontal, less eye strain while driving
the Mirror Head
- always (ALWAYS) spray with Windex before trying to adjust to suit your driving position, makes it easier for fine movement and drys off......
maybe you already do all of these, maybe not
maybe you already know of these, maybe not
but it helps...........
