@Flossymk1 This is the best I can do .... but its not a bad alternative. (Humor me) plus its safe with the HiViz fluro green

Is that the wire idea to keep that door open...good idea with that pool noodle too.

Because of the ext entertainment unit I lost the door loop catch. Jayco mounted a 1973 gate latch which I wasnt too impressed with. I cut it off because it looked like a pathetic 1973 solution and completely out of place on the new van. I replaced their gate latch solution with their own the Dometic Silverline magnetic catch, much to Jaycos bewilderment. Somtimes, you just shake your head
Anyway, the left over gate latch eyelets were a perfect solution for a ocky strap inside the pool noodle ... now im just like @Flossymk1 and @Smirke with their left hinged doors
(Although, it feels a bit like an icecream or hotdog van when the kitchen window is open. Couple of people at the c/park ordered donuts ... idiots, we only do hotdogs and icecream)

Hey @Crusty181 how does it work in anger.. We set it up for the trip up to Gold Coast.. Was not that hot while up there so still in the van boot..
Well @davemc thanks for the question. It works very very well. In fact, if i was to be honest, i think i much prefer it to the left hinged door .... and from the mountains of private messages and emails im getting, theres a distinct ground swell toward the pool noodle, and against the left hinged door.
People are seeing the obvious benefits. Theres another place to hang a towel for instance, on hand pool safety device, people in the site behind dont have clear view into the van ... theres a swag of genuine benefits.

Well it was Sarah's idea. I will pass on the thanks to her. I had some other ideas she did not agree with.

The star picket works ok for long stays on the beach, but I am leaning towards the wire idea more and more now that I have seen Dave's and yours. It's also quicker than hammering a star picket in the ground too.

I offer up some shockers i have no intention of doing, then when i table a half reasonable idea i get a green light.

Once that's done then simply unravelle the TV arm and then it's ready to watch Freo win anther game :eagerness: Hopefully

Back from our wonderful 2 week trip - our van performed remarkably well - no major issues!
One thing we did notice on the way home however - we drove through very heavy rain for quite some time, and when i opened the van when we got home there was water on the floor (not a flood, but enough to require a towel to mop it up) - I traced it to one of the roof gas vents in the rear roof hatch (the one nearest to the bunks)... Has anyone else had this issue? It hasn't leaked during rain while stationary, so I'm assuming the rain was "blown in" through the vent perhaps?? And it only seemed to be that one vent that leaked - all the others were dry...

We havent had that yet, and we've drive through some constant rain although not really heavy. I found that stationary with the hatches open on the lowest (just barely open) notch, the rain bounces up under the lip and comes inside.
Well we haven't been able to get away in the van since returning from our Tablelands trip, as it's been too bloody hot!!
But we are hoping we might be able to get a couple of nights in sometime in the next few weeks - weather permitting...

Sounds like situation normal for Townsville, we have a bit of cook heading our way for the end of the week so we are off the NSW North Coast, I may even post envious pics.
Went into the van this morning and the battery alarm was going off - realized we should have turned the battery switch off when the cover went on in early January - whoops! I quickly plugged power into the van and it's stopped now thank goodness - I hope it's not damaged or anything??
And we decided to book a couple of nights away at Rollingstone next weekend - the weather forecast isn't great but I don't care lol, just want to get away in the van!
