ahhh yes, the old MQ............
took a perfectly good Patrol, and stuffed it up
the G60 had a great 4.0L engine, but ruff as bags
so they refined it to the MQ - which, when compared to the 40series shorty at the time - no comparison, comfort like you would not believe
unfortunately, they thought - sod the good 4.0l motor, lets get fuel economy and power.. - and stuck the L24 & L26 motors out of the Z cars
big mistake
over weight, under powered - but it would go anywhere
best part about the MQ/MK was the Chassis - that became the GQ (with a bigger better motor and then the GU with more refinement
my old 2H in my HJ47 was the same, until I spent some serious money on it (without turbo - they were like $8K and not worth it then)- (ported and polished head, extractors, 2 1/2" exhaust, bit of a tickle to the injector pump)
go to over take on the Hwy..........- hhhmmm, only 3 miles to that bend, not far enough to get it over 100km
The glory days @bigcol, I had the sports HJ47 ... taco, clock and aircon (yes aircon)
so did my Troopy
bucket seats out of a 200B
long 3 seater back seat (facing rearward for the kids) out of an L300
and the 2 factory seats near the rear doors
had a custom built box behind the seats for recovery gear
120L reserve tank
dash shelf
roof console
2" lifted leafies & shocks
2" shackle extensions
11R 15 BFG's
