My family got me Baby Q for my birthday for use with the caravan. I've got a bayonet point on under the van and was looking at getting a hose to connect it.
I noticed that there is no regulator on the hoses advertised.
Is this because there is a regulator in the van already?

Yea BigSkiddy we were told you can't regulate the gas twice we bought a 3 metre hose no regulator on them, already regulated from van .
Cheers

Yep. Lucky birthday boy. Though I hope you realise the cooking responsibilities just got subtley shifted to you!

yep thats correct, van has the regulator, I got 3mtr hose from BBQ GALORE
I tried the 3 mt hose off the rear bayonet while down at Halls Gap. It definitely restricts gas flow as to struggled to get the temp over 180c. Straight from the bottle using the supplied weber regulator it gets much hotter. (Q220)

I struggle with the standard setup sometimes if the wind is blowing but nights like tonight where we are sitting at 30+ had it on as low as it goes and was belting out 200 had to open the lid to stop the Snaggers exploding

Never know what the temp is on mine, no guage in lid, still seems to be cooking OK, though shorter hose might be better.

Does seem to take a bit longer in cooler weather if not sheltered some how.

I just did mine. Bought the $10 thermometer from bunnings.
Drilling was easy. I was slightly off with the middle hole but a metal file fixed that.

By the way, I tried to buy a genuine thermometer but was asked by the sales guy if it was to replace an existing one. I said it was to add on to a lid that did not have it. I got some crappy story that weber would not sell new thermometers without a serial number of the BBQ. They only sell for webers with a thermometer already installed. After hearing that pile of dribble, it made my decision to buy the $10 version easy.

I have had the baby q for a couple of years it has ended up having more mods/updates than the van. We bought the base model (high lid with the thermometer mainly because I was listening to a 3aw show with a BBQ guru who was adamant that it is the only way to go) to use with the camper trailer. Turns out to be true.

Before we got out of the shop we had the roasting trivet and the half hot plate with the little handles. Loved it immediately cooked a couple of roasts by the river...Happily cooking for my 6 plus extras.

Then we got our Expanda, so off to the caravan show to pick up the bayonet fitting and the trolley. Also ended up with a full size hot plate. Still loving it.... now we can set up next to he van each morning for bacon and eggs. Also picked up security cable (bike lock) to secure it to the drawbar.

Now we have expanded the portfolio with the handle light (that switches on when you lift the lid, the fold out plastic table/shelves and a cover. With the possible exception of a pizza stone.... Surely this is it!

And for the record....still loving it!
