Last weekend we did a day trip to Walhalla and did the train ride from Walhalla to Thomson River.

Walhalla is like stepping back in time to the days of the gold rush. The town is built in a deep valley rich with history. There is also a mine tour and even a ghost tour that you can do when visting the historic town. There is a campground at the far end of town that could get busy and if taking the Expanda it will be in the carpark but I dont see this as a problem in the off season or quieter times.

A new campground called the Chinese Gardern is opening shortly but looks a bit boggy at the moment.

Finally had a shakedown trip in the Expanda, went to Scarborough Holiday Village QLD, good caravan park, great location! lots of restaurants,
Found out Jayco do some odd things like mount a power point behind the hotplate! TV outlet at the end of the long lounge so where most people would sit the tv is behind them!
other than that was very comfortable
Cheers Deb and Greg

Hi guys,
That's good to hear, the Jayco sales guy in brissy also suggested that park for a first run when ours arrives. He mentioned the sites are drive through, which for someone new to towing vans sounds good to me. Did you find it easy to get into the spot?

Thx -jas

Any idea of the time frame for that - we're thinking of heading up for a few days in the coming school holidays.
Great little town, but only stopped briefly there to air up and down for the surrounding tracks

Hey Holden_man some of the sites are drive through, however we were on a perimeter site, which was reverse in, good clean park, very popular so you may need to book well ahead of time to get a drive through site!
When is yours arriving?

Hi Greg,
Delivery of ours should be second week in October. I might have to look at booking in advance then, otherwise its going to be real funny watching me try and back this thing into a spot. When the van arrives my plan was to take it to the entertainment centre at Boondall and Practice in the car park with nothing around to bump into.
Is this your first van also?

Watch the advertised "drive-thru's" gentlemen. In some CP's they're brilliant; in others it just means there's only space for one van between two tracks. The "best" ones clearly mark you site by sticking a raised garden bed (edged with rocks) on one side and sticking the tap and power outlet on a steel pole at the other. I'm sure the owners drive through – but only on their ride-on mowers. All that said, practice is a great idea. My 18 tracks beautifully in reverse, but it's working out when to start turning that's the interesting bit. If you can adjust mirror to see driver side van wheels it's easier.
The wife helps with directions but we've yet to agree on which Left and Right we're talking about. It's all great fun and with the set up so quick you an afford a bit more time getting into your site.

Yep boss and I will have to agree on hand signals, reckon she might give me a few one finger signals though as "she" learns the ropes. :argue:

What mirrors do you use Xpandafan, want ones that don't damage the truck.
