And here are the pic's of the van so far. Very happy with the lay out, lighting is excellent, once back from dealer (hopefully Saturday arvo) with bed issue fixed we can get to start doing the little things to it to make it that much better and getting it packed ready for Easter for its maiden voyage.

Looks great very close to what we would have bought if we stayed with Jayco. Except we prefer Cafe seating which I know is a very personal choice. Your layout and colours look great. I am envious of such a nice van.
Regards Terry
PS I really like your letter about the 16"rims it makes great sense to me and I am still puzzled how Jayco can justify not giving you 16 " rims on a single axel as standard considering how much weight is loaded on each wheel (and tyre) in a single axel config.

Hi Colin and Pauline, I love your new van and it was one of the design layouts we were pondering but we've just found out your model has been deleted from Jayco's production line which is disappointing as we really liked it. :( The sales guy we talked to said that Jayco weren't selling enough of that model to make it worthwhile and that we can get that layout if we go up to the 17' model but not quite sure which way we'll go.

Anywoo I'm looking forward to reading about your Easter travels.

Not sure what is going on there they are still on there web site and the next size up in the full van is 18.55 so he must be talking about the pop tops. I would talk to another dealer just to confirm that they are not making them anymore.
Easter was just a quick get away to test things out and get my oldies out in their van. awe went to Coolah which ended with us getting invited back as we apparently took the rain with us which they really enjoyed. Found a few issues with van but will need a few more weekends away just to get things in cupboard sorted.

Unless it is like the prevoius 16" version of the 17:58-3 that lived as a 16' for about year before being added to a dual axle 17' chassis. I think the design of your model is amazing for the size, but I do wonder about that weight on two wheels and perhaps Jayco are now too?

I wonder about it also. Ours is 2013 model. We have done about 8k on the black top. We have had the axle and tyres replaced under warranty as the axle had bent and tyres were scrubbing out. Neither tyres or axle are rated to the total ATM. The difference is made up in ball weight. Since the repairs were done we have only done a short trip to Apollo Bay and back. We are off next week to NSW. A bit longer. All highway driving.

I don't recall slamming the van into large pot holes or gutters, or running over dead cows, Nor has it been on the Gibb River road or other such tracks. So it will be interesting to see how we go in NSW. And later this year up the centre. In the back of my mind is the nagging worry that the suspension isn't up to it.

The tyres that B/water Jayco put on as replacements when my bent axle was replaced were on 16' wheels but rated to 1060kg at 65 psi. Same as the originals. I don't know what they would be at the 45 psi recommended by Jayco.

Did Jayco offer to up grade your tyres or did you challenge them on the loading? What rated tyres have you been given?

Advice appreciated as I don't have much faith in the max loading of my van.

Regards,
Peter.

Hi Colin and Pauline yes you are right the salesman got it wrong and the deleted floor plan is from the pop top range. So glad you're happy with the van.

Guys I went through wheel/tyre loads on the Expanda. I woundnt muck around get some 16" sunraysia mine spec wheels and fit a quality known 16" LT radial , something with a 122-123 load rating then give Jayco the bill.
