Thanks guys

Day 5 cntd

We left Dubbo and headed for Gilgandra with the view of pushing thru poss to Goondiwindi. Unfortunately bush fires south of Coonabraban cancelled that idea. Road blocks forced us to veer east and we decided to head to Tamworth via Dunedoo etc. very nice drive thru some beaut countryside.

We tried to get into some parks in Tamworth but wouldn't u know it this weekend theres some festival on :). So we pushed on to a place called Uralla and now staying in the local park.

I think we climbed Mt Everest to get here. Our poor v6 como towing the panda worked hard and did the job well.

We have been averaging around mid 19's L per 100 of fuel for the trip so far. Which is what i expected.

Next stop Brisvegas!! Hopefully

Good onya mate, looks like your having a great trip and rackin up some K's. Wow that blowout looked like a decent one, lucky no major damage, was it a factory tire? Gotta say I'm a bit suss on them!

Cheers.

I purchased the van 2nd hand so not sure but i'd doubt it. Geez i was racking my brain as to what would've caused it!! Why do u think they r sus??

Now we r trying to work out which towns to stay at on the East coast after we spend the week in Brisbane

Stan, did you know the tyre blew straight away? It looked like you had been driving for a while with it flat. Why I ask, is I think it would be hard to tell if you had a blow out. I am thinking of getting those pressure sensors.

Did the rim survive?

Van sits well behind the Commodore.

I'm no tyre expert but they seem cheap and load rating not very high, I've seen a few pics now of blown (destroyed) tyres! If I was planning on a big trip I'd considder changing the four of mine!

She blew straight away mate. Drove on it for only a bit to find a suitable place to stop. I think the wdh helped keep it straight and in control. Re the rim the tyre repair dude didn't mention anything regarding it being damaged so i assume its ok. Unless he didn't care and just wanted the quick $100 from an out of towner!!

How do the sensors work??

Hi Stan,

Did you stay in the caravan park at the southern end of town on the night of the 18th of Jan? If so we were there with our Expanda on the way home to Brisbane after forgetting the Tamworth music festival was on?

Yep we were in the 14.44-4 OB. We were on our way home from Tassie.

I was going to come over and say G'day in the morning but by the time we had sorted out the 4 and 2 year old you had already left.

Have a good trip on the rest of the way home! :thumb:

The van has been great. We upgraded from a Swan making the setup so quick and easy. The wife usually takes the kids to the playground I pack up and pick them up on the way out!

We took three days down the Newell Highway to Melbourne and day in Melbourne across on the ferry to Tassie for just over 2 weeks then back up through Albury Wondonga, 2 days in Cowra, Urulla then home. We were away for nearly 4 weeks

Sounds like u guys had a great time!!

We had an old 30 yr old sunwagon wind up van. The poor old girl was getting tired and we had planned this 10 week trip adel to bris returning via east coast. So we decided to up grade. Much quicker and easier set up time!!! Less stress :)

I mentioned to my better half ur post as she recalls speaking to ur wife too.

AnywAy it looks like we r gonna get wet so off to Bunnings to help water proof the van!!

Oh did u get caught up in the fires in Tassie??

Well Queensland "beautiful one day, torrential storms the next (week)"

Thankfully we've been staying with good friends in Brissy and def feel sorry to others of u that have been stuck in your vans out in the elements. My poor kids had been promised the world re theme parks and have instead lived off their ipods or watching dvds.

I'm "hoping" the rain dies off today with the view of sneaking up a little north (noosa!!) with the view of letting "oswald" go away before venturing back south. Is anyone up on the Sunshine Coast that can give us some ideas on the state of the caravan parks??

I hope u have all kept safe!!
