I know what you mean @Where to next . See a lot at coral bay each year, and every time we see one cutting holes in the ground as it gets reversed onto the site, hence why we went the outback. But agree. They should do it from factory. We asked and got told no.

The old anode

image.jpeg

It was very rusty. Was a bit concerned about it, but was told it was normal. The pressure release valve nut thing was also rusty. Silly wally's had to put the drip tube right in the way, of course!

image.jpeg

Found this while the younger 2 were busy buying Lego (their money thank goodness). I loved the snags on the BBQ.

Very proud of myself. Did 2 , almost 3, jobs on the panda wagon yesterday.
1. Took apart the sink drain and cut off the bit that was blocking the connector.
And
2. Did the anode. Luckily I took the other one with me, as rays and bcf sell them but they are too long. I remember reading someone saying you can cut them, but decided not to. So off to jayco I went.....came back with the chocks I needed for my level ramps, awning wash and the anode. (Pricey little thing it is).

On putting it in, I found it would not screw all the way in. Not sure if it was because I used too much tape on the thread or what. Filled it up and there's no water leaks, so I'll leave it.

Also got more baskets and did a tidy up of the top cupboards and threw out a lot of crap that was still there from our eastern states trek. Plus swapped the cutlery over for the stuff in the house, which I bought from edments when I was 17!!!

Today's jobs......wash the awning, sit in the van and pretend I am away (sad, I know) and design a box for the front. (think I'll be pushing up daisies by the time the other half gets around to it.)
And do the 3rd job.....a breather in the sink drain pipe. Would have been done yesterday but the T piece I got was too small.

Well done!

I understand the joy of sitting in the van and pretending you're away. I plan to do that tomorrow while we get ready to get away in a couple of weeks.

We also need to wash the awning and dispose of excessive crap from the last trip...I might find some missing clothes I haven't seen for a while.

How much space do you have on the draw bar? I was reluctant to add weight and couldn't find a custom alum box that didn't require major draw bar modification so I found some angle iron and put that across the draw bar and bolted a plastic box to that between the gas bottles. The extra table sits on top and it's all strapped down tightly and protected by the stone guard.

Weber fits in easily as well as chocks hoses etc.

All for about $30. Won't last forever but it works fine and doesn't move.

Just an idea. I'm all for simplicity.

Our draw bar is the extended one. And with the spare now on the bumper.....it looks HUGE!!!!
We are getting a place down the road to custom make one for us. It will have slide outs both sides (either engel/engel, or engel/bbq or engel/generator combos depending on where we go) and a hatch in the centre for other crap that we take. Have a 12V outlet in the front boot to run the engel while on the move. F.I.L sets (or use to set) the licensing exam for plumbing (and was a plumber), so he will make sure we move the gas bottles correctly. will put mesh across where spare sat and that can be for hoses...the run off can dribble all it likes onto the road then.
Am getting there. Not waiting for input from other half, just going to do it and get it done. (5 months and 10 days and counting. )

Ours is extended as well.

With spare wheel removed we opted for a wire cage under where the wheel was.
Great for firewood and all sorts of odds and sods.

It wouldn't affect any box you have mounted on the available real estate.

image.png Well with the box not on the front I was determine to fiddle around and get something useable there instead. Got the screen from a security door and chopped it. Cable tied it down (doesn't move a mm) and now it is ready for the BBQ and trolley to be strapped to it.

20.63.1OB std drawbar model had that mesh, which as accessory cost $200. We added the ext drawbar for $300, and lost the mesh, still paid the $300. They reasoned the $200 credit is built into cost of ext drawbar. But i explained the ext drawbar is still $300 on the tourer, which doesnt have the mesh to start with.

Chirp, chirp ..... silence, plus that stupid face they they get; hoping they can become instantly invisible

It's a good spot for hoses and firewood as well.
We put a lightweight plastic box between the gas bottles, bolted to angle iron, and that houses the weber and the chocks ....the hoses just get chucked in under the box and don't move.

I like the recycling of the security door....makes sense.

the security door idea was the neighbours, he works in the security screen business. May do the placky box idea as I have stacks of them here. Will see what i come up with after dropping the boys off to go to the footy.

Our plastic box has done over 20,000 kms so far and the only attrition, so far, is the straps I used to make sure the lid didn't come off. The straps have disintegrated and will be replaced.

The good thing is that the box itself weighs 4kgs with some stuff in it...not the weber, just incidental bits...which is a hell of a lot lighter than a big metal toolbox.

Just not as sturdy or as secure....but a 10 year old weber doesn't need that.

You are certainly making progress with all the mods.....good on you.

Want to do an Anderson for me? My auto leckie is flat strap and can't do it for another week.
