Thanks.

I'm looking at the auto! Advice from some people is that it is a great towing box.

Opinions?
Yeah mine is an Auto so far so good the 6 speed in this one is a hundred times better than the 5 speed piece of rubbish in the last model I had nothing but trouble with that thing
maybe just do a quick search on here there were a couple of guys who have had some issues can't remember who though

Nicely built! I have nearly finished building one that will be permanently mounted in the tub of my Ranger to complement the portable one I built at Christmas. I will be using the same CTEK. How do you find the CTEK?
Cheers
Nick
Sorry @Rockape just saw your post I swear by my Ctek I have 2 250 Dual's one in the van and one in the tug I also have a 25AH Ctek mounted in the Van to replace the AC charging side of the Setek unit and one that I use in the shed etc great bit of gear

I have an auto and tow a 17.56-2 ob I get around 14.8 ~ 15.2 towing (100kmh max) without towing I vary between 8.9~9.9 l/100klm. I have got as low as 7.9 on a trip from Perth to Margaret river and back, but that was sitting on about 100kmh.This may sound weird but I get my worst fuel consumption using shell fuel.

Mine averages 11 without towing an 17 towing my 16.49-3. Be careful with the rangers to capacity it reduces when you carry anything in the car.

Kerb weight of approx 2200 kg.

Ball weight of 200 kg.

Occupants 300 kg.

Total 2700 kg. Max GVM 3200 kg. Ok so far.

Approx Tare of van (Silverline 21.65-3) 2600 kg. ATM 2600 + 475 = 3075.

GCM 6000 kg max. 2700 + 3075 = 5775 kg.

Ok by 225 kg.

Tech savvy types, have I missed anything?

Yep.

Just looking worse case at weights.

One kid in last year at school and one with 3 years to go.

I know the Ranger and the Jeep will tow our Expanda with no worries at all. In fact our Terry does too!

Mine is only the supercab model with ally tray and full lenght toolboxes. 2"lift with steel bullbar and 285 AT tyres. The economy has been this high since new. However im hopeing it may go down when ford replace the computer next week.
Just had a quick look on a tyre web site and going from 265/17-17 to 285/70-17 adds 30mm to the diameter of the tyre which would change the Speedo/odometer reading, I'm assuming this would reflect on the trip computer, I know mine is about 7% out according to the GPS if I'm sitting on 110 on the speedo it's reading 103 on the GPS so realistically the fuel economy is reading better than it actually is. When I changed to a larger more aggressive tyre on my PK Ranger the fuel economy average changed from 13 to 15. I think @cruza driver is in the tyre industry and may be able to add some more info

I use to be many camping trips ago so you were right. What you posted @Capt. Gadget is pretty accurate mate and your right the heavier the tyre the more it takes to keep it rolling.
@BUSH PALACE is the man in the tyre business, @cruza driver just knows a lot.:boink:
Thanks I think.............:D
And yes @BUSH PALACE is the tyre Guru just don't mention the ''C'' word Coopers. ;)

Back from my trip,
Ranger total weight -2300 kg
Towball. -150 kg
Expanda. -2485 kg water tanks full and loaded with a lot of c**p that I did not need but had to have.
First tank 15.57 l/100, 2nd tank 15.0, 3 rd tank 15.8,4th tank 14.8, I was also carrying extra fuel on board. The only difference is now I have a canopy and roof rack.
