Anyone who has the new Jayco bed ends, can I ask do you find it a bit darker inside? My friend is wanting to get new bed ends mainly so her kids will sleep in a bit. So she is wanting them to be a bit darker.

Will let you know in a fortnight @JOBSWAN after the WA Meet at Waroona :)

Here is a pic of how it looks when with lid open. My instructions are a few posts back. You need to use pop rivets, not self tappers (even though my kind Jay co dealer gave me the self tappers)

How to fit the sail tracks on the inside?. I'll send pictures on the weekend - the instructions are: lift lid, remove the rubber seal by just peeling it off, pre-drill the tracks at 10cm intervals (I also shortened mine by about an inch from what was supplied), silicone the track, attach with light spring clamps, drill (I positioned some ply on the inside to avoid damage), then just pop-rivet and refit the rubber seal. The track sits neatly along the edge - no rubbing at all when opening and closing. This probably takes twice as long as fitting them on the outside - but it still only took about 90 minutes all up.
I have these things coming with the new van. I suspect the dealer will just fit it to the outside edge as per the brochure. I much prefer your finish, its a much neater job. Could you do me a favour and post a few more detailed pics showing how the track finishes with the seal etc. Cheers

Hi, here are some more pics. Once you peel back the rubber its really easy to see how the sail track must sit. Then just silicone, drill and pop-rivet on; and then just refit the rubber seal. I think its likely that dealers will be reluctant to do it this way because it would take a bit longer than just bunging it on the outside with self tappers.

I have no idea what any weird thing on the end is. I just made sure that the tracks had no rough bits, and the bed end went on really easily.

That's ok, the photo is down the length of the sail track runner showing the inside, a good photo actually but looks very unusual!

That a neat job there and maybe Jayco will change there's to match yours....thanks for the photos that clearly show how the job was completed. Great work:eagerness: @beecee

Do you have any problem with track clearance once the lid are closed?

Hi, no problems at all with sail track clearance if the track is fitted inside. The fit of my Expanda lid reminds me of the panel fit on an HQ Holden I once owned. About a finger gap all the way round.

Hi all for those of you in wa looking at getting jayco bed ends I would recommend you give Australian caravan co in SA a call as they were a lot better on price than u can get them for in WA including freight
If you join the RV Club which they run and is free to join....you get 10% of anything you order from their parts store so may be worth a go if ordering bed ends. Mine were $650 the pair including fitting!!
