Bugger. There's a new software patch released only a couple of weeks ago - I think you've seen it on JeepGarage.
Make sure you use the opportunity to push for answers. There's all sorts of theories out there but I'm looking for straight answers.
You can be sure you've had regens happening.

With 1500 JGC's sold every month (most disel I think) it's nothing like the initial DPF issues they had with the NS Pajero but I feel your pain. At least Mitsubishi were able to pinpoint the problem, provide a fix and the problem went away. It's always in the back of my mind (I had the problem at 6000km and am now at 20500km).

Glad it didn't happen on a trip with the van.

Have read heaps about it on AJOR but doesn't seem to be pin pointed yet just lots of guess work.

Yeah it seems the dealers are just doing a forced burn on them. But I wonder if any of them have physically pulled the DPF out to see if it is actually full, or whether it is a dodgy sensor.

My brother-in-law works for Hino Trucks and they had problems with DPF's, It turned out that the pressure sensor tolerances were set to fine with the in and out pressure, they relaxed them and no problems. Hino actually employ mechanics, so I don't think Jeep Aus will be able to work it out.

Exactly @BigSkiddy Exactly, have had the odd truck go into spasms because of damn dodgy sensor on the DPF or AddBlu units, I really dislike the things.

My Grand has Mercedes Engine and grearbox s and I found far better advice online from europe MB blogs and AusJeep than any Jeep dealer, do my own work as I don't trust others to do a proper job.

Those DPF filters are even worse if you drive in the city. Stop starting is there worst thing that you can do them.

There is a new product available on the market and you can clean the DPF filter out instead of getting stung for a new one.

@BigSkiddy I bet ya the dealer will clean it out if it's the filter cause there $$$$ to replace.

Thought I was in the clear, but it has happened...Had the Grand Cherokee go into limp mode today. Will be on a tow truck to the dealer tomorrow.

Was only 2km from home when got the message "Exhaust Filter Nearing full Safely Drive at Highway Speeds to Remedy". A few seconds later the engine light flashes on amber and get a red lightening bolt with 'Service Electronic Throttle Control. Vehicle then wouldn't accelerate past 60kph. Drove home and back into the garage.:(

Frustrating, but after hearing so many reports of this happening to other Diesel Grand Cherokee, I knew it was only a matter of time.
Would have been heartbreaking if I had the van on the back to go away. Was only going to the mother-in-laws so not too disappointed.:behindsofa:
Same thing happened to me on the way home from work this afternoon. @BigSkiddy have you found out from the dealer an answer?

Bugger!

Dealer has applied a flash update that apparently fixes it (PCM update). I'll have the car back today. They did a forced burn first then applied the update.

It's a should take them about an hour to complete.

Just dropped off at dealers. Hopefully will be a quick fix as you say and they can fit me in today.

We have had this happen 2 times with our WK14. Last time it went immediately to limp mode and my wife nearly wore a B Double !. Jeep did a forced regen and claimed that one of the hoses to the DPF was not fitted correctly. Still not happy with this situation. I have asked both the dealer and Jeep if they can provide a specific description of how the DPF and its warning system should work (like the description in the US Diesel supplement supplied with WK14 models in the USA) - I mean if we know how it is meant to work we can determine if it is working correctly. Both Jeep and the dealer claim that they do not have access to this information. Hmmmmm

This must be about the third version of it I think after much denial. I know originally it was stated that too much city driving caused it but that was shot down by folks who only burned up and down the highways and the things went limp, so they were caught out again, hopefully this is the fix.

Yesterday afternoon while driving home mine came up with ' Exhaust System Regen in Process Continue Driving' so i continued driving, made a longer detour home, pulled in the drive way and was still in screen so was in the process of ring the service center and message disappeared off the screen. Drove it again about an hour later and got up this morning and drove to work no dramas.
Hadn't seen this message before but it has just been in for its 20k service 2 weeks ago so not unless the new updates now make the system work.

From reports when you get that message head for the highway and go for a good burn, they like the higher speed and temps for a good clean out.
