Glad you have made progress and hope that they sort out the leather. Why only do part of the en-suite and leave the roof? Happy to now book mine in for the same issue.
Likewise, agree that they have used the wrong colour to the kitchen bench top but job looks ok.

Leather problem is a simple problem related to leather thickness. Swivelling of butts near the edges, etc. Unless of course it was there before any butts, then it could be a Jayco problem...
Has been there since day 1 so no butts so its a Jayco problem

I think they left the roof in the en-suite as it looks like a big job to remove and resilicone and I told them not to do anything that they could not do without stuffing it up.
I may get them to do it next time if it annoys me to much.
Yes bench silicon is done quite well but could have been a better colour. I dont know why it is so hard to get it correct.

After all the Mothers days stuff ( breakfast, lunch and dinner) I found some time for the van and fitted a step light.
I always thought the step is dark and hard to see so I hve now got some light on it.

I used a Navva 300mm High Output LED strip light and stuck it to some 20mm x 3mm alloy flat bar.
I then added about 6 meters of twin core power cable and heat shrunk it all together

2016-05-08 20.05.20.jpg2016-05-08 20.02.51.jpg2016-05-08 20.02.43.jpg

I mounted the strip light to the under side of the door foot well on the factory angle that is there with 2 riverts, The angle will make it shine on the step when it is pulled out.

I wanted to be able to swich the step light on and off from inside the van so I deceided to get the power from the outside van light. So when that light is turned on the step light will also be on.
To do this I had to remove the outside light light to connect the power wires to, So this involved cutting some silicon and undoing 2 screws.
Once again Jayco has used yellow spade terninals to join the light to the power wire so this will make it easy for me to connect the step light power to.

I ran the step light power cable from the step under the floor, Up through the floor into the kitchen cupboard, Along the back of the cupboard to the under side of the fridge, Then up through the grommet of the fridge with the gas and power cables, It then goes up to the out side light in the rear of the fridge cavity.
This was not easy to run but it all looks neat and out of site.

I then connected the power cable using red spade terminal to the Jayco femal terminals at the outside light.
Then refitted and siliconed the out side light back into position

This is what the step light looks like turned on.

Ordered one of these when I ordered some other stuff from caravans plus about a month ago and set it up the other day.

It is a Sphere remote control for the wireless light system fitted to new Jayco Vans
500-07130m.jpg
The remote control allows you to turn on or off any light or all lights off with the press of a button.
Just had to sync it with the sphere light unit inside the cupboard and all works well.
Great for when in bed and want to turn off all the wireless lights or out side the van and want to put the rear spot lights on or now turn the step light on and it was only $37.

The Basestation bathroom light has always been a little difficult to turn ON, You have to reach up and use the switch at the light it self. Small kids can not reach the switch, If it is in the middle of the night and totally dark it is hard to find the switch or if you need to wash your dirty hands you get the light dirty turning it ON.
So I thought it was time to see what could be done to control the light from a wall mounted switch.

The bathroom light is powered by a 12v source all the time so I disconnected this and fed some 2 core cable up through the roof into the pantry cupboard (located other side of bathroom wall) where the sphere wireless receiver is mounted.
2016-05-11 17.58.35.jpg2016-05-11 18.10.24.jpg 2016-05-11 20.16.29.jpg

As the light switches in the basestation are wireless remote controls that talk to the 6 channel wireless receiver and all 6 channels were all ready used I had change what channel controlled what group of lights.
In the lounge / kitchen area there are 3 roof lights, 1 was on one channel and the other 2 were on another channel so to get a spare channel for the bathroom light I connected all 3 roof lights to the same channel. This was just a matter of changing some wires over at the receiver box.
2016-04-17 21.48.06.jpg 2016-05-11 17.58.50.jpg

So now that I had a spare channel. I connected my new 2 core cable from the bathroom light, positive to the wire for that receiver channel and negative to a common negative for all light wires.

I needed to reprogram the receiver to delete the signal from one of the switches from the lounge light and as it was now a spare switch I reprogrammed that switch to control the lights in the rear bunk room.

I had to buy a single light switch to fit next to the bathroom door and program it to the receiver to control the bathroom light.
To mount it i just used 2 self tapping screws to secure the base plate and then just cliped the switch onto it.

We got one of those when we picked up our van

Will you ever get to go camping between work and mods ????????

So what happens when you are surrounded by Jayco's fitted out with similar light set ups ??????? does everyone know when somebody gets up to use the loo at 0200 as their dunny lights all go on ???? I suppose each freq has a digital code with it.................be funny though.

Yes that would be funny but it does not happen.
Work does seem to get in the way a lot.
I keep telling everyone that I am too busy to go to work.
When I do go camping I like everything to work the way I want it to work thats why I do all the mods and I dont like sitting on the couch at night watching TV, I go to the shed and play.

While I was playing with the lights I decided to fit a light switch to the expanda bed end.
I used a 3 button switch that includes an all off button so we can turn on the bathroom and lounge lights and also turn all lights off whilst in bed.
I screwed it to the wall between the curtain and the opening for the fold out bed.

I have fitted a Narva VSR (Voltage sensitive relay) to the Basestation to disconnect the fridge from the tow car when parked as I have had the battery go flat in a few hours. I mounted the VSR to the underside of the van where all the cables join and go through the floor.
20160516_195439.jpg
When traveling and using the fridge on 12volt I never really knew if my fridge vsr was on or not so I decided to fit a led light to let me know what it is doing.
I used a skirting mount F type antenna housing and removed the F connecter and fitted a 12v led in its place. I wired this up to the VSR so when that is on the Led will be ON. I mounted the led housing to the underside front of the van with a metal strap and the factory screw and some silicon.

I like the idea of the external LED..... Have to remove the fridge vent to check if mine is on or off!!
Yes it is very handy. When I first connected it the led was all ways going off due to the vsr turning off with low voltage. So that made me check out all the car and van wiring and found that the 2 fridge wires at the vans 12pin trailer plug were loose. Tightened the pin screws and have not had any more problems. Without the led in plain sight I would have not noticed there was a problem.
