You see the issue I have is that when I receive delivery of my van, I will not be able to keep it permanently at home. (TOO BIG, WILL NOT FIT IN GARAGE!) It will be stored at a family peninsula property which is basically an empty block of land that will be completely fenced off.
The property is surrounded by neighbors and the van will require an effort to maneuver it around trees etc.
-

in my humble and honest opinion...............

not a safe place to store your Van............
sorry

a caravan, parked on an empty block is inviting all sorts of bad juju
from little buggers bored on the way home from school
to
someone wanting a new van

now, unless the fence you are talking about is a solid non see through (ie: super 6 or steel equivalent) having it on view will only invite tears

again, just my humble opinion

You got me thinking now @bigcol ...........Appreciate your opinion and I see you point.
But I have made the commitment to do this. Family is counting on me...
Just another challenging obstacle to overcome, a larger hurdle to jump over....

the buying of the Van.......... do it for your family

or the storage on their block............ get them (family block owners) to deposit the same amount of the cost of the Van into an interest bearing account as surety - in case something goes pear shaped

Just another challenging obstacle to overcome, a larger hurdle to jump over....

Step 1 -
Application into Town Planning for a higher than maximum allowable fence will be submitted next week!
Step 2 - Increase budget for front fence! :concern:

out of curiosity @Lozza T

what size is this block.............?
where abouts on said block will the Caravan reside.........?

is said block big enough to fence off just the area you will need for Van to park......?

I dunno........

Thanks @bigcol
About 700m2
I will fence the entire block and have it set up as a semi permanent camp site.
It's in a pretty good spot, water view, lots of trees etc.
Front fence is key here. Make it solid and make non see through.

I've had 3 covers in 2 years.

Don't buy the cheap ones, my experience is that they are not UV stabilised and break down after a few months.

I just purchased one for $250 and it's a proper marine fabric and seems much better. Only had it for a few weeks so far so can't comment on how it will go long term but it has a 2 year warranty

Thanks for the tip @Bellbirdweb
I would definitely want for the cover to last at least a few years.
It seems from what I have researched that the sizes are 16' to 18' and 18' to 20'.
The van I have ordered is an 18 foot. Which one do I order? Is it better to go the bigger size?

I have a 21 and originally purchased a 20-21 and it was way short.

This one I got a 21-22, but the sizes tend to vary.

Best to actually measure the van and look at the real sizes on the covers before ordering.
