@Billrw136 ... I drove a petrol NP the other night... great truck... but I could tell I would just be going from petrol station to petrol station. Amazing amount of car for the dollars they were asking.

We were pretty strict on the diesel requirements after what I learnt here and on other forums. I'm pretty stoked with the service history and the price we got it. I'm pretty sure it's already got a HD bar and has the 12 pin socket that suits the van already which save a few dollars here and there.
Yes - I averaged 16-17 l/100k around town! Put the camper on - through the roof! In contrast the Jeep I have now uses around 9.5l/100k locally - van on around 13. Big difference. Anyway once again - congrats - good choice....

By the way come to the Corner........!!

Would love to mate... but I'll be venturing to Bathurst for the V8s around that time... but also, I reckon we're not quite tricked up and experienced for a trip like that! We'll get there, but baby steps... I don't want to be like some of the backpackers I saw when growing up in the NT and wondering why the Hyundai Excel they bought for $300 blew up on the way to the rock.

Preparation... knowledge... gets you a long way. Luck gets you the rest...

Manual @Bank of Dad ... I personally don't mind, and I know auto might have been better for when Mrs Smergs wants to borrow it. I kind of like the idea of easily controlling what gear I'm in.

True @dagree... but to be honest, when you are buying secondhand, you don't really get much choice! :) There weren't many diesels kicking around (certainly not in our price bracket) so if it came auto/manual, I didn't mind.

I need to brush up on my manual driving style, been driving oversized go-karts too long... :D

Wow @Smergen you managed to get it colour matched to your van, white on silver. 10 points there pal, everyone knows my preference for white cars towing white vans.

My brother pointed that out as well @Pace. I personally hadn't really thought about it, but I reckon it might make a good pair. I'm hopefully hooking it up tomorrow and might tow it back up and down the street to see how it goes. Weather forecast is pretty ordinary so we might just sit inside and play Uno in the van... :)

@17triton ... Thanks for the compliment mate. Hopefully I can glean a few gems off the Paj owners (past and present) as to what to watch out for.

As for Bathurst mate, definitely hook up if we can. We're down in the Paddock campground... just debating with the brothers as to whether or not we take the 'van. It'd be a very tight squeeze on our non-powered site (8mx7m). Not to mention a bitch to get in... I reckon we'll just tent it this year, being our first time up there too.

@Smergen ... Had an NM petrol Pajero but only towed the 16' Onroad Expanda with it. Towed it no probs at all but I think it would feel the 17'OB behind it. Sure the diesel would do it!

If you haven't already have a look on the Pajero Forum as I got a load of assistance from there same as from this forum :)

Great looking car @Smergen. I was looking at new ones and we also liked the old one we had a few years ago. My mate has an auto diesel, his tends to squat at the back a bit. I reckon some air bags would do the trick. Now that you've picked our your new combo you will have a great experience within the capabilities of your set up which was state of the art only a few years ago.
