Hi Forumites ... another update before we're off grid again!!!
Since the last post, we stayed at Coral Bay for a couple of nights which had 100mm of rain a couple of days before we arrived and we copped some while we were there as well ... very wet and muddy little place! Managed to get in a snorkel and a 4wd trip between rain!
image.jpg

From there, we headed into Warroora Station (14 mile camp) and camped up on 'The Ridge' - spectacular views of turtles, dolphins and whales but the wind was not our friend!!! Did some beach fishing and went for a drive through the property but ended up leaving after 3 nights!
image.jpg

We headed towards Tom Price after this, and had a free camp at House Creek Bridge ... Going from the blue seas and white sands to the red dirt ... love every aspect of this beautiful country !!!
image.jpg

Drove up to Mt Nameless at Tom Price - what an amazing view from up there and we are heading off to Karijini NP today - have stocked up on fuel, food and recharged!
We did buy an extra jerry can (now have 2 as back up) after nearly running out of diesel coming into Nanaturra!!! Made for an exciting 100km watching the fuel gauge dropping and discussing who was going to be hitching!!!
Until next time - stay safe peoples

My boys love to sandboard on the dunes in CB. (That photo of the sand dune where the car is going up the track in CB looks familiar)

Hi all ... currently at Port Hedland after 3 nights in the beautiful (but extremely cold at night) Karijini NP. What a beautiful place this was ... walked plenty of gorges with spectacular views.
We're staying at the racecourse in Port Hedland which is a free camp (48 hours stay) and are having some car troubles! Did a wheel bearing which has also damaged the ABS sensor ... they need 8 parts to fix it and have 7 of them in stock so need to order one in!!! Hopefully we'll be back on the road tomorrow or Friday!

Hi all ... The upside of being stuck in Port Hedland was we saw the Stairway to the Moon ... ended up back on the road on Friday (after the car was fixed and bank balance depleted by a fair whack!!!)
image.jpg

and went straight to Pardoo Station for a couple of nights.
Great place with massive tides while we were there. People head to the beach about 3 hours before high tide, set up the rods ... and then wait for the water to come in - you then have about an hour of fishing time, the water goes and so do the people!!!
Pardoo has a small store, cafe, pool and while we were there, they were mustering the cattle ... We made great use of the ear plugs a friend gave as a joke before we left!!!
image.jpg

image.jpg

We left Pardoo on Sunday and are currently at Barn Hill Station which is another great camp ground - Sunday night was $17 roast night for 3 courses ... BYO plates, cutlery, tables, chairs, grog etc ... there would have been 200 people there I reckon! Followed by entertainment for the evening ... great night
image.jpg

Heading off today to Broome ... no idea where we'll stay as you are unable to book during school holidays!!! Apparently you turn up to the caravan parks on the day, if someone leaves you may get a spot!!! There is an overflow campground that we may need to make use out of - there is a 7 day maximum stay here so at least there's a better chance of getting a spot. We'll stay for a couple of nights, then head to Willie Creek or Quondong for a few nights, then back to Broome for the Horizontal Falls tour on the 13th. After that, we are booked into Cape Leveque for a few nights ... not liking to be governed by dates and bookings but it is SO busy up here that we don't have a choice ... didn't factor in School Holidays that well!!!
Could be worse things to worry about I guess ... upside is, still loving every aspect of this beautiful country ... take care all and until next time

love the photos. You will be very lucky to get in anywhere in broome now. But, there is a caravan park that just started up outside of broome. as you turn towards broome off the main hwy (at the petrol station) it is on your right. I think it is about 15/20km out of broome itself. and 5/10 mins after the petrol station. was quiet, good ablutions and had a huge fire pit. I cannot remember the name of it though. When we stayed (2012 July school holidays) they didn't have power available. That may have changed now though.
Good Luck.

Staying at the PCYC camp ground which is an overflow park - run by volunteers and it has very clean toilets and showers! $35 a night for a (limited) power site. You can only stay for 7 nights which means there is a continual turn over of sites for travellers!
We'll store our van here and go to Quondong or Willie Creek for a few nights and then back again on Sunday to do the Horizontal Falls tour on Monday.
Next week we head up to Kooljamin for a few nights (have prebooked this!!!)

Hi all
After 2 nights at the PCYC campground in Broome, we put the van in storage there and then spent 3 nights at James Price Point (in a tent!!!) - Quondong was packed to the hilt due to WA school holidays!
What a spectacular part of WA (sounding like a broken record!!!)
image.jpg

What did we learn???
Don't drive on to a beach with VERY soft sand, and then stop to admire the view on the beach with VERY soft sand! Spent about an hour trying to dig ourselves out, and managed to get ourselves about a metre back - next step was to unload the car- instead we called for back up when we had bottomed out completely!
image.jpg

Back in Broome now, did the Horizontal Falls full day tour on Monday which was amazing - flew to Talbot Bay, fed the Sharks, 'did' the falls (not massive due to tides)', flew to One Arm Point on the Dampier Peninsula, and then back to Broome in a 4 wheel drive bus - we were picked up at 5.30am and got back to Roebuck Bay CP at 6.00pm! Long day but well worth it!
image.jpg

We are actually really liking Roebuck Bay - doesn't get great reviews on Wikicamps but good value ($38 p/n) and we love the feel of the park. Tonight we were at PHP (pi*# head point) and the police turned up - there was a boat out past the mud flats that had picked up a psych hospital escapee - police used my camera to zoom in and monitor the situation!
On Monday, we leave the van here and head to Kooljamin at Cape Leveque for 4 nights (back in the tent), doing the Brian Lee tag-a-long tour on Tuesday.
After that, we need to start heading towards the east ... so do not want to go back to work!!!
Until next time
Cheers
Jac & Baz
