My Jerry cans are all jungle green with a D or ULP scrawled on them........should I colour code them ?......but then I am old school and can read..........My cans do have an arrow head stamped on them so I know who they belong to.

My 2 stroke petrols in a black can, standard ULP in a red.....What ever makes your jingles jangle I suppose.. If all else fails take a sniff..... Which reminds me of a funny story...........well not funny.....but how indecisive we are sometimes......

I was at a servo and this guy next to me had borrowed his mates 4wd..... He was about to fill up the tank.........It was badged a TD.....Sounded like a petrol engine....And had a diesel filler (larger filler hole)..........He asked me if I knew what it was.....I sniffed the tank and couldn't make a decision.........I popped the bonnet and it had spark plugs.........I still wouldn't say 100% it was petrol.............I know it was..........but???

Hah @Dean Anderson , glad it's not just me, had one of the Utes from work , it sure sounded like a diesel but just to be safe I looked under the bonnet at the bowser, thank god I did it was petrol.

Want to watch the shape of your can then, Red is also the colour of most Fire Extinguishers.............and there seems to be an abundance of stupid people around.

Yellow diesel.

Found this info online after a bit of a search, Thanks Crusty181 for tweaking my interest.

The 12 colours (AS2906) and contents are:
red - unleaded petrol;
orange - ethanol;
olive yellow - diesel;
bottle green - two stroke 25:1;
shamrock green - drip torch;
bluebell blue - AdBlue;
bright blue - chain and bar oil;
powder blue - kerosene;
mist blue - water;
pipeline grey - two stroke 50:1;
black - oil; and
nut brown - biodiesel

To top it off fuel colour is also coded: Premium ULP is Yellow in colour, 91 Octane is Red/Orange.

And lets make it real interesting....Bowser nozzle colours should be:
GREEN for Ethanol E10,
YELLOW for Unleaded 91 fuel ( where service stations sell it),
BLUE for Premium unleaded 95 fuel,
RED for Premium unleaded 98 fuel,
BLACK for diesel

Why would anyone get confused?

WHo in there right mind would do something like Yellow fuel in a yellow tank from a yellow nozzle.............or wait for it Red fuel from a red nozzle into a red tank..........People would just get so confused....I'm glad we have governments to make things so much simpler....

Eventually the govenment cant help but to accidentally get something sort of right. The Fire'ie members may chime in, but I suspect it has something to do with HAZCHEM or emergency type identification when things go pear shaped, like a fire etc

I hope so ... nothing important can be sorted without proper and considered input from a committee, implementation strategy, environmental analysis, locational rehabilitation plan, working party, senate enquiry, pilot project, costing reports ... and spell check

I don't care I'll just go fishing................................................old school, green jerry can with fuel, tip some onto concrete, evaporates quickly, little residue then petrol, evaporates but leaves small residue, 2 stroke, slow evaporates and plenty of residue, diesel....easy, pezy.........who cares about the other yuppie fuels ???????......all my 2 stroke engines are 50:1 no stuffing about.....can is Green with "2/ "on it.

Pretty colours means so easy to suck someone in as they wouldn't think to test whats really in the can, well not until their engine carks it........................no CDF nowadays, or am I just being cynical ?????

It's not about the committee members..........Its about the committee chair............Something to put on the C.V.

1. If you think a decision you have made may be unpopular before you announce it, form a committee to make the decision before it is announced.
2. Never form a committee unless you are assured of the outcome.
2. Make sure all those entitled to make an input to a committee are given an opportunity to go on the committee, that way if they don't they can be blamed for the decision/s of the committee because they didn't go on the said committee.
3. Committees are only organised for two reasons: A) So the committee chair can get outcomes without doing any actual work. B) So the chair or the instigator of the said committee can prove an attempt at collegiality or similar forms of consultation.
4. Divide and Conquer....no better way than through a well established committee..........
