Hey Klugerclan, we must be neighbours or close! Take my hat off to you - that's an "Eltham Driveway" all right. You have big ones :biggrin:.

Do you know what your gradient is? Ours is 1 in 5. The guy who made our shade sail after the Xmas hail measured it for us. You can't get a van up it as there is nowhere to put it once you're there, but I'd love to have your solution.

If you don't mind, I'd love to come and see it. Would you PM? If not, then fine, no probs.

Hi Ozwich, sorry for never replying, haven't been on the forum for a while, we have been hard saving and the van has become a bit of a statue past few months. look forward to getting it out as it starts warming up. Not exactly sure what the gradient is, think about 1 in 4. Will send a PM.

Kluger's don't have low range so a non-starter getting up the hill. Using the old man's Kia which does the job to date.

I thought another update in order. Latest effort getting the van back up hill using my Mum and wife as guides - disaster and ended up at a silly angle with van squashed between garage wall and gate post. Got the saw out without any hesitation to resolve the issue and gatepost and some fence removed. I have since repaired by drilling 2 cm hole in stump and post. Screwed in big bolt from bunnings, the sawed head off bolt and replaced post onto bolt (inserted old tent pole into drilled hole in post which fits snugly over bolt). Good as new, and can remove again when required. The saga continues......The old man is thinking of trading in Sorento for diesel Sportage....wheretop then ?

Nice job Klugerclan, at least you now have that bit of extra width for future use.
I had previously read your thread from beginning to end. What a mighty effort!

I suppose a complex pulley system with Mum and wife on end of rope not worth considering?

Hello everyone, good news and bad news. The good news is that last time we used the van, having widened the gates and using the removable gatepost, I reversed the van in straight off. Finally conquered the driveway from hell.

The bad news is that due to some personal circumstances, we have to sell the van. Very sad sale, van still smells brand new. It is currently list on trading post.

It is ready for a good home and wants to go on holiday !
