Got home with about 30 minutes of light left this afternoon so being impatient (And getting "pushed" ;) ) I got the drill and bit's 'n pieces out of the shed to do a trial fit of the Jayco Bed Ends......

First trial fit after drilling the sail tracks and one side of the lid.

Close up of the corners (Still need to debur the ends).

Side view.

Unfortunately not enough light left to fit the press studs and get things tight so both ends will be finished on Friday.

Couple of simple hints for anyone else fitting them....
1. Debur the sail tracks front and back after drilling.... Helps them to sit flat against the lid and the rivet heads against the track.

2. Measure and check the length. Had to cut 20mm off each end. Front one wouldn't bend enough to sit flat. Side ones would have pushed into the seals on the corners when closed.

3. Use a new/sharp drill on slow speed and minimal pressure (Chipped a little bit of gel coating from the inside of the lid on the first hole >:( )

4. Get the wife to get the iron out prior to taking the first pics :D

All in all.... Very happy with the outcome and how they look.
Nice and light weight and easy to fit the canvas by oneself.

Now to get out there and try them for real!!!!
Bit after the fact. But if you remove the weather seal. You can put your sail track under the hard shell. Keeps them out of the weather, out of site and neater. I had mine installed like that works a treat. The weather seal knocks straight back on.

Interesting to hear that @Matthew keough ... Didn't even think of that.
Wonder why none of the manufacturers and Jayco haven't done that??

What brand have you got fitted?

I got the Kakadu ones, full vinyl. I liked their annex walls so stuck with them. I had mine installed and Steve their Sydney installer pulled off the rubbers, ran a line of silicone underneath then half a dozen rivets, slipped the rubber back on, this took a bit of stretching and rubber mallet to make sure it was knocked on.
If he didnt do it i would have fixed em like yours.

they look the Ducks Nutts @dagree

Im at work, so I cannot have a look myself, but, is there much difference in the fitting of these either "outside" like yours, or "inside" like @Matthew keough

I think I may be going for a trip to CaravanLand next week when Im home.................

Not sure about the fitting of them "inside" as yet @bigcol ...
Will be dragging the van out later today to finish the installation... Will have a look at the back one and see if it's doable.
Will still fit on the outside as that's how it was explained and shown to me at Caravanland.

I pick my jayco bed ends up tomorrow (only week and a half after they said they would be here) so being the impatient person that I am , I will start putting them on as soon as I get home. Thanks for all the tips and will be looking at that idea of putting the sail track under the hard lid. Dam this forum is costing me money and time, but hey, you can't take it with you and I love spending time in my shed

Looked into the sail track on the inside this afternoon with the rear bed ends @barney120 ..... Couldn't work out where/how to attach them so ended up putting on the outside like the front ones.

Had some issues working out where the press studs for the ends went.
If fitted on the same section as the existing screen end studs are the whole canvas bed end would need stretching by about 50mm!!!
After some discussion with Rob at Caravanland and a few ideas given it appears they fit on the outer ledge of the bed end (Will post a photo soon to give you a better idea).

@rodney please pass on comment on to Rob that the issue is all sorted and thanks.

I'll be keen to see if they put the studs in the same spot @Janbo
They won't fit anywhere else as length of BEF is designed to fit outside of the privacy screen.
I can actually leave my privacy screen on but there is no point if BEF are fitted.
Discussed with SWMBO, use privacy screen unless rain is likely, then take off PS and fit BEF.

Yes @Marv_mart it was your pic that confirmed the locations (Had another look at them after talking to the local Jayco guys) :eagerness:
Originally worried about the rubber seal being fouled by the stud but after taking several measurements fitted them 10mm from the inside edge to the centre of stud and no probs encountered!!!!!

We will be leaving the PS's in place and see how it goes on the first test run next month :)

@dagree Thanks Mate had a look at the Rhino boxes and walked away, pieces of junk! So have a couple of companies quoting me now. With bottles on the outside box about 1100x600x480 with a slight slant. Will see what the quotes came back like. Some good cheap boxes over east but freight is a killer to WA. May need a plumber though to move the regulator Dont know anyone do you :)

I moved the regulator myself. As it didn't require modifying (Just had to disconnect, move regulator and reconnect) no need for a licensed fitter. Sorry can't help with anyone if you need one :(

@Steven Galvin. I picked up the same box as @dagree and when I was there the salesman asked if I was interested in a smaller box they had just got in. From my bad memory it might have been 1200 long but that was quite a few memory killers ago. Just a thought.

Only a couple of mods for today!!!!!

After fitting the new HR towbar to the Prado realised the chains were too short. So after reading the Rated D Shackle posts decided to go with the Hammer Locks and a couple of new links (Rated chain ;) )

chains 01.jpg chains 02.jpg

Worked out where the 12V USB socket would go (After discussions with SWMBO'd and got "told" that they need to be near where she sits).
Ended up running a dedicated feed from the setec and mounted them under the seat on her side of the dinette!!!

12V power sockets 01.jpg 12V power sockets 02.jpg

Recently purchased a couple of small LP Gas Storage stickers for the front box. Made and mounted the plastic backing. Stickers to go on tomorrow. (No pics yet)

Off Topic..... Fitted a couple of new side clearance lights on the boat trailer while I had the tools out.
Mental note for self... Keep an eye on that limestone wall when backing it in :jaw:

give Chris a call at Stainless Steel and Alloy Mandurah 95818338 regarding a tool box for the front. They custom make them.
We had one made for our Swan we had it and will definatly getting one made for the expanda when it arrives.

Yep them's the ones we got :encouragement:

In regards to your fridge light @dagree and @Gadgets 21.63.1 , as it seems we have the same ones, did you find that it came on with vibrations around the van? I tried mine with the bit of velcro it came from underneath the freezer, and using the phone video, saw that whilst it turned off after the 40secs or so, it spontaneously came back on as well. Any ideas?

Could I be so rude as to ask for a pic of yours? I was thinking underneath the freezer but the sides might also be useful. Was just going to use double sided tape rather than the mounting bracket.
