I agree with @crackacoldie re ride and comfort. The other small issue with going to a dual cab is that there is all round less room in the cab. There is very little room to put bags, food, games, pillows etc when touring. Sure you have a massive tray on the back for all your gear, but the family might find the actual cab a little claustrophobic whilst driving. Just food for thought. As you know, we have a dual cab and wouldn't change it, but it is worth mentioning the negatives.

All good comments and its helping with the decision.

I think I may get a rear wheel carrier for the pathfinder so I can have the spare moved for the the long rang range tank and then I can get two jerry can holders on the opposite side as well to keep the jerry cans for the boat outside.

This would solve a lot of the issues for me of storage its a big outlay but sounding more worthwhile.

I had to restrain myself from going to look at the Colorado the other week, they've had some good pricing lately, I did look at a Ranger a few weeks ago, No auto in the diesel 4x4 till mid late Feb, Nearest BT dealer over 50km away so haven't looked yet.

After driving the company Tritions both 2x4 and 4x4 granted povo packs, I wouldn't bother with them.

Just was well the PJ is here to stay a while longer yet

I reckon the Holden warranty period will increase soon. It will have to, their name has turned to sh?t. Just check their facebook page to see what they are copping. I can see it going to 5years very soon.

Ok, so your after something brand new. Just my 2 cents worth. As you know I had brand new Challenger. Good service and Mitsubishi do look after you with fixed price servicing. Accessories are expensive. Example: set of roof rails was going to be $2500. The only bad thing I have heard about the common rail diesel turbo is the life of the motor ain't all that flash. The challenger had a lot of room in the cargo area. Lots room. Even after I put a set of draws there was a lotta room.
The down side? It was noisy in the cab, sounded like a tractor. Air conditioner was useless air didn't get to the rear passengers. It didn't like cornering. I did complain but every one said that's normal.
Why did I tell you all that? Cos the Challenger was built on a Triton base.
Why did I trade down to a 20 year old vehicle? I was sick of the constant vomit whenever we went on a long trip. For those who are aware of our Mansfield trip last year, t hat trip was a living hell. It put us all of camping again, especially the girls. It turned out part of the trouble was a lack of circulating air in the rear along with concave windows which gave the rear seated passengers a distorted view out the windows.
Also, the Landcruiser was too good an opportunity to give up. It drives like a dream and I can drive all day long. It cost me 15k and so far I have spent another 5 on it. But it's the best move I've made for a long time.
Hope this ramble helps.
