All ready for the holidays but the Pathfinder is stuck in the mechanics shop!

They spent all day troubleshooting and couldn't pin point the problem.

Only have monday left for them to figure it out or holidays likely to be canned!

Was advised to take it to Nissan and get them to scan it by the mechanic as its not logging error codes that relate to the issue at hand.

DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMM SANTA PLEASE BE NICE!

P.s Issue is the Pathfinder is randomly stalling whenever it feels like it. No other symptons just decides every know and then to shudder, drop idle and cut off.

Please do check pipes connecting air cleaner to fuel injectors. Start at where air is sucked into air cleaner and keep going until you get to the head.
Had same problem with my Toyota. Took ages to find.
I presume this happens when the Nissan is at normal operating temperature? And yes, it is frustrating as it won't show up in a computer error code.

If the air cleaner is connected to the injectors, you've got a problem right there ;)

I'd definately reccomend seing nissan. Its amazing what the correct software offers in diagnostics!

Must be the week for x-file pathfinder issues.
We took ours in for a service and was told we have an oil leak.
Except they can't find it.o_O

Okay just some clarity around the issue at hand :)

Issue -

When car is at idle it will sometimes shudder and then stall. It doesn't happen whilst driving its just while siting at the lights or in traffic.

The car is not logging any error codes when it does this.

Mechanic has no idea what to do and has suggested Nissan needs to scan it as a next step.

What has he done so far -

1) Check for logged error codes - NONE LOGGED

2) Smoke test - No air leaks in the turbo or intake system

3) Replaced about 4 sensors in the engine bay

4) Checked all earths and connections

5) Reset and re learned ECU

6) Checked fuel pressure

Next Steps -

1) Replace fuel filter

2) Get some one else to scan it

So it not looking good :( and its just due to the time of the ear everything is closed so will wait and see on monday.

Oh no!
I'll cross my fingers that it is miraculously fixed!

Me to :)!

Oh bugger of all times ,hoping you have some good luck there mate

Yes not a great time, this seems to be a yearly occurance I think the pathfinder is take the silly season literally these days!

is it re-starting OK , sound like fuel issue?

It does sound like it to me to as they have checked the air intake system and replaced multiple sensors.

It does it all temperatures just random.

They did a smoke test on it to check for air leaks and there is zip of them :(!

This sounds like the cam shaft sensor problems that were in the commedoresn the 90's

Gavin

Yep they repalced something similiar to this, can't remember the name but they did replace this sensor and a few others but problem remains.

Yes, Nissan is what the mechanic has advised but two problems -

1) Nissan can only scan it on 24 December

2) All mechanics etc are shut from this point for a period of time

:(!!!!

Also check all your wiring loom connections for tightness and cleanliness
MAF sensor?
Is it at the lights etc or whilst on the move?

Just at the lights, you will come to a stop, it will shudder every now and then and just stall.

Some times its fine, some times it does.

Geezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz really???

Cough cough "buy a Toyota" ;D

Lol, the Pathfinder will live again!!!

Mate, get it fixed, I've been waiting for you to come up north again. I hope it's not just an excuse to stay on Sydney. :boink:

Trust me definitely not an excuse I want out of here so bad its not funny :(.

Fingers crossed for monday :)

I'm no expert @expanda, but I reckon the problem lies wit it being a Nissan!:bolt:

Hope it gets fixed quickly for you!

At this moment in time I can not confirm or deny your statement :)!

Oh man.....what timing, hope you get it sorted expanda, I'd be taking it to a Nissan dealer for sure. I only take the Paj to Mitsubishi as they have all the gear for diagnosis and if something goes wrong it's only ever been serviced by Mitsubishi. Seems to be the way it's going with modern day cars......if there's a fault the dealer knows best!
Good luck mate,
Cheers.

Maybe @stuartcarr2002 has a contact who could help get you in earlier.

I am pretty sure he is on leave already :(!

It only stalls when you stop and idle........So don't stop;)

You raise an interesting point...

I may just have to drive it and not stop :)!

In order to get holidays!

Feel your pain and tension. Had car problems last Christmas.
You can borrow my Hyundai Excel...

True, usually the mechanic I go to is tops.

But you are right once it gets technical it really needs the specialist diagnostics tools.

I had an issue like that on my Patrol

Turned out to be the idle sensor!

I have an issue like this it turned out to be the pathfinder :)!

Lol quite possible.

Might have to take a serious look at a triton next year they are giving them away these days lol :)!
