Well just got back from a weekend at Rollingstone towing the big girl for the first time with the new BT, and must say i am impressed..... Towed it with ease, and drove beautifully. Love the auto in it, and that sweet 5 cylinders full or torque made driving very enjoyable. I was a bit worried about the towball height as it was a few inches higher that the Navs but once I hooked her up it sat so well I didnt even bother with the WDH. And the redarc tow pro, if you dont have one. Get it

Told you so!
Just Love my Beast as well!

Yeah the more I drive it the better it gets, since it arrived I have done only a couple mods to it as it came with just about everything I wanted. Added a box to hold my 12v power cluster and a fridge slide. I also fitted one of those struts on the heavy ass tailgate too, worked brillantly. Just undo the handle and it slowly lowers down.... well for about a dozen times then BANG broke the end of the strut off. Lesson learnt, pay the extra 50 and get an aussie product not a cheap ass thailand one off ebay!! Once I get my dollars back I will be getting ther EZ down one from wolf. I really need to centre up the reverse camera also, I did ask before delivery for that but.... no. Mods on the van have been quiet too, the only thing there was swap out the 100 amp gel battery for a 125 amp agm.

@navmatt, I read your post to Mrs CR and she was delighted as it helps confirm my decision for the new BT50. We are yet to try towing as we only have 400 Km on it but I am looking forward to the test. 8-)

You will be pleased, its good to wait before towing. I think i read somewhere at least 2000k? not sure on that. Didnt take me long to get there only had mine a month and a half and done over 4500k now

Not too sure yet as only a quick trip mixed in with a bit of driving without the van on plus was a bit of a headwind. The avg was saying mid to low 17's sitting on 95. i have found the avg and real world figures are out about 1L per hundred which I think may be on 18L. I am expecting the more run in the ute get these figures will improve. In sayin that its better than the 20s i was averaging with the navara.

On our last big trip with the BeasT, some totals and averages you might be interested in:
Total dist: 10,329km using 1527l of Diesel at an average cost of 171.91c/l or $2625.28 in total.
Most expensive was at Erldunda at 210.1c/l, cheapest at 145.9c/l at Pinnaroo
Average Fuel Efficiency over the whole trip was 14.7l/100km
FE varied according to head winds, terrain and average speed but on a flat track with no headwinds we were as low as 12.5l/100km. The trip was from Adelaide to Kakadu, Darwin, across to Gladstone via Mt Isa and Emerald and then down the East coast to Pt Macquarie before heading across country to Adelaide.
Hope that helps. Hardly notice the van on the back with the BeasT!
Cheers

They are some pretty impressive figures, hope i can get down to those sort of ones. What speed did you mainly sit on? I sat on 95 on the speedo which according to the gps was 90. Also do you tow in the sports mode? Ive been told by a auto tranny guru to tow in that and never go into over drive. I did a little test when on the move and slipped it into sixth to see if the economy changed, it stayed pretty much the same. So I will stick to his advice.
