That would be the way, study the tide table like a form guide and plan arrivals and departures to the tides, remembering we can have some pretty big tides here at Xmas so you would want to start on the beach an hour before LOW and be off an hour after low to give the best chance and to run up from Noosa end you will need 2 hrs... Long handle shovels, mats and a good compressor....... My best idea is run the beach with MT water tanks, carry MT Jerries or bladders which you can refill at freshwater with potable to fill you van tanks back at camp, the 100 odd kg less weight could be make or break..... A wheel barrow wheel, one of the fat ones is great if you can make a beach jockey wheel with one.. just for any sand dragging......
Buy permits online cheaper and for that time of year since they have limits get in early as it will be pretty chockers over there... The QPWS has a bulletin on conditions every week or so as well.

Guesty... I've driven up and down the Teewah camping zones a couple of times, 1 through 7...or from the Noosa end 7 thru to 1 looking at the caravan option.
I'll see if I can find my summaries, as I had planned to take my Jayco up there, and still will once all the dust settles with my move.
I did take my camper trailer in there a while back with no real drama, though it only weighed about 1500kg and was single axle. I've also run down the beach from Rainbow to Noosa a few times dragging the camper trailer after leaving Fraser. I have seen a few quite reasonably sized tandem axle vans parked up camping at Teewah. As Drover wrote, tides are critical, we always try to be on the beach at least 2 - 3 hours before low tide, as you can always wait for the tide to drop if a section is a bit tight.
Low tyre presssures and momentum to get on to the beach, and again to get up to the camp spots. A set of at least 4 max trax, a compressor, and a shovel are ideal accessories to carry
From memory the Southern sites 7, 6 & 5 are ok but have some low hanging trees, good for camper trailers but full size vans could be a drama. I think I was looking at zones 3 & 4...some zones are quite short, and some have a small climb off the beach to the camping spots...most are reasonably flat... but don't offer space for more than 3 or 4 vans / campers with some space between you.
Teewah though has been getting a bit of a reputation of late as it is easy access from Noosa, and groups of hoons getting full of grog and bad manners can make the camping a tad unpleasant.
Avoid long weekends, Easter, School Hols, Christmas...
Cheers guys, appreciate the knowledge. I think zone 3 or 4 is what some friends suggested too. We've camped on Perlubie Beach a few times so used to the soft sand, but there you camp on the actual beach section, not on the beginning on the dune.
Thats my only worry is the amount of clowns over there that time of the year. but will just have to see. Can't do much with the timing unfortunately.

Easter at Double Island Point, Teewah 2024:
If you thinking of heading to Double Island at Easter or even now I would think again, the beach at Rainbow is a no go for most pf the way to DI, last news for Liesha Track showed water right up to the boards on the Lagoon side with entries to Liesha and Freshwater pretty dodgy even at low tide .............. Looks like higher than usual Easter tides plus some storm surge is making a mess of the whole place ... Todays high was right up to the beach ramp at the surf beach....

The term “Part of getting old” is getting bandied around by specialists a lot, and has played havoc with plans for trips away this last 10 Months.
Mrs Grandma also wanted to be around for birth of our great grandchild which closed another window.
A few small local circuit trips appear to be our only option left this year once medical circus is sorted.
The Caravan Show at Nambour on again next weekend, August 16-18 2024, uite enjoyed the last one I wandered around there, parking was good, plastic card entry only, no cash entry.............................. The good news is the Gympie ByPass has opened amonth or so ago and also today i happened to drive past this place in Gympie https://pkpark.com.au/ its located near the Gympie gold and Mining Museum and it looks very nice, was once a basic paddock but now done up well... fully self contained worth a look at if travelling this way, the free camps either side of town are pretty horrendous really ..................

The Pub at Bollon, QLD has burnt down ............................ One of my favourite camping spots by the creek and the Pub did great tucker, what a blow for the town...

Courier Mail 23/02/25Very sad news spent a lot of nights there in my wool classing days in the shearing sheds , then plenty of stops in the days I repped for lister diesels and more recently on the way to music in the mulga and trips to the yowah opal fields, our last trip there bekky cole put on a free show, if they do not rebuild Bollon will finally die
If no insurance it doesn't bode well for the town, only changed hands a couple of years ago and the Free Camp really helps keep the town going, I hope the pub gets back on its feet, might end up like Morvens Community Pub, where the town got it going again after the old one burnt down .............. took a few years to happen though...
Can only hope so...total bummer really as we had planned to go through Bollon just after Easter heading out through St George, Bollon, Cunnamulla, up to Charleville, across to Quilpie etc...up as far as Winton. Sounds similar to your journey Drover.

Hhhmmm, might be a chance I'm out there as well around that time, won't know till then as my Temora run might get canned but will go to Texas and decide then. Anyway we like stopping at Bollon, some nice places at Charleville we use the CMCA as its cheap, Quiplie at "The Lake" 3 styles on the station, full park amenities at the homestead, or Lakeside NP bush camp but use of facilities or on the other side of the lake for just a bush camp, its close to town and the town free camp by the main road can be a bit ratty thought the van park is really good, heading to Winton we like running up through Windorah, Jundah to Longreach, Jundah Van Park is a nice spot or down by the river, Stonehenge Pub, Longreach is always too crowded most times and at Winton, the free camps are so dusty and barren we opt for the new park on the edge of town ................... Caltex/Ampol depot at Longreach you get a voucher so you can get a discount on fuel at the Winton Depot, may still happen.
This run if we go it will be Texas, Nindigully, Bollon, Cunnamulla, Eulo, Thargomindah, Toompine Pub up to Quilpie then toss of the dice. but we could end up at Wilsons Waterhole and to Quil[ie via Erromanga ...... Start at Texas as we can go South or West easily unless like last year the road past undy was flooded for like 2 months ... We Highlight places on the map and decide as we go then again we might just stop at Bingara for a few weeks and do a Spa run in western NSW ..................
Between Erromanga and Windorah there is a great lake side camp at Kyabra Waterhole, our stopping place if heading to Windorah from down Noccundra way, last time the Cooper was up so no camps there and we ended up at Jundah for a couple of days, good chance to clean out all the dust............... could have had a job there as well..................................... Even though its a month or so away keep an eye on the Council sites for road updates as could be some water heading south so levels will be up and down for months to come ..
Thanks Drover...I'll PM you later...though I have locked in Easter at Childers with a bunch of others, then leaving on the Monday 21st at this stage heading down to Lake Broadwater Conservation Park south of Dalby overnight, then on to St George. Your itinerary is actually pretty close to what I have planned. Not all set in concrete yet, but will be going via Bollon, Cunnamulla, but going up to Charleville rather than through Thargomindah, then across to Quilpie, Windorah, Jundah, Stonehenge up to Longreach. Winton from there... (might even go via Euromanga as I read they are still recovering from flooding so could do with some travelers passing through),
Not forgetting Anzac Day is on the Friday, I haven't decided yet where we should be on that day...as you know some towns put on a decent Remembrance celebration...
