Had to put the water heater on under the water bed for a few hours this evening. Also had to put on a shirt to go with the stubbies and crocs to go out and check on the chooks and lock up everything. Darwin and surrounds gets like that at this time of the year :)

It's been bloody cold, wet and windy in the Barossa, had the rain hitting halfway up the front door this morning. Not bad since the door is 8ft in for the front of the verandah!

Spent a year working in Nuri (Mon to Fri) in 1976 just after a 2 year stint in Darwin & Katherine. The Company then asked for volunteers to work in the NT and my hand was up so quick to return. You've just described some reasons why crackacoldie.

I went down to the local creek today.
Normally the water level is about 1.5m below the footpath, today the water was lapping the top.

Normally, there is a 100m sandy beach, today there was none.

But then God smiled and made everything better

gi day stray dingo, looks like mordialloc creek, never seen it that full before, wouldn't be a lot of room under the road bridges.
mornington beach was the same pretty much non existent, and massive waves belting up off the break wall/pier.

We had tarps on while during building work. Got back after Christmas break to find water came in one bedroom 3 weeks earlier....
Carpet still wet, but mouldy too cos it hadn't been dried out. Thankfully insurance didn't feel it was worth an assessor so we could do the clean up and repair velours and they reimbursed us within a few days.

BP - dry the carpet immediately, or at least get insurance company's permission to remove it now. Mould not good for respiratory.
Good luck

bush palace, straydingos on the mark, when our ensuite flooded the front rooms of house, we arranged carpet people to come and suck water out, they then left us with fans to dry it out over a couple of days, RACV dropped the excess to cover the cost of it.
they ripped it out in the end anyway, and replaced as they couldn't re stretch it, after lifting some corners to get air under.
they also sent a guy out with a meter to check in the walls, and provided a de humidifier.

hope they look after you,
