Warning!!! Aluminium Box on a Standard Drawbar

Something to think about if you have a standard drawbar with an aluminium box mounted on it
Towed the van around the city this morning to get a few things done. Last stop had to perform a fairly sharp turn to get out of the parking area and heard a noise I didn't like

Always been conscious of the restricted clearance when reversing but didn't give it a thought going forward!!!!!

The end result......



And not a scratch on the ali box :noidea:

Turn the other way then you will have a match and no ne will notice........................been running the tape measure for my upgraded stone guard and had to change the plan as it came within the crunch zone, short draw bar no room for anything actually.

So is that a plastic bit that got crunched dags ??????

Yikes tough one mate.


Currently away , but am going to check fuel useage tomorrow. But I had a substantial stone guard on the Expanda. This time on the Starcraft I went with a stonestomper. If intial consumption figures prove correct, the stomper will not take long to pay for itself !

Get one of the hayman Reese tow bar shanks that has three hole locations for the tow bar pin. This allows the shank to come out about 80mm more and can make a massive differance. I did the same damage as you and the new shank made all my problems go away!

Actually use one of them but only on the second hole.... Might have to try it extended a bit more.

Bugger I have another longer tow bar shank but the chains don't reach so I have not used it. Better do something about the chains before I do the same thing. Thanks for the heads up.
