This is what we use down here in Tassie and so far 100% srike rate. Not cheap but easy as. Its omni directional so no pointing at towers, just plug it in and go.
And there made in Australia too.View attachment 20748
We have one of those; have heard they're pretty good. We've only used it in more built up areas so far, but looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Hi
most common problems i've found with antennas are
1/ broken connection - i use a little light, battery and a loop wire to send power thru the coax to check continuity on inner and outer wires
2/ faulty booster - test at antenna .... you should be getting 12-13 volts coming up from van, centre wire positive
have seen the coax connected to wrong ports on the booster a few times as well.

on another note to fix radio noise from lights etc, fit a Ground Loop Isolator to the radio (about $10 from jaycar) that will fix the bugger :)

Winegard Snowflake users - try this.

Instead of winding the antenna all the way up so it's in the vertical position - try it at just above horizontal to up about 45 degrees.

Depending on your location the results can be dramatically better. I was about to buy a satellite dish in Hervey Bay when old mate at the caravan repair shop said give it a crack first.

I was sceptical but whadaya know - went from SBS to all bar one or two digital channels and was better than the caravan parks directional antenna plugged into the side of the van.

(Also helps to check and redo Jayco's dodgy antenna cabling and joiners - cable in my van was up to $hit).

This site has downloadable pdf files on TV transmitter locations and info ( horizontal or vertical) www.wanderingtews.com
very informative. Usually use My Switch app but use a handraulic compass to get the bearing, the phone app compass are a big pain.
Once I went over all my TV connections all was good, the school kids who wired my van up didn't have a screw driver I think, must have used a knife.

"mySwitch" is an App by Dept of Communication for the digital roll out. The App is available free in IOS iTunes and Android Playstore. It will use your phones GPS to set the bearing for the digital TV tower in any given area.

And for areas that have a vertical signal which your Winegard won't pick up, pull one of the top pins, just a cir clip and pin, and turn it to the horizontal, make sure it's pointed in the right direction and retune.
I have also found that some "out of the way" places the local re-transmitter is directional so if you have the town between you and the transmitter you get a signal but if you are behind the transmitter you are in the shadow and no matter what aerial you have, reception will be hit and miss, the TV is usually the last thing that is wrong, location, aerial and cable cnx most times.
